In Europe unfortunately they are not available in the standard size 245/35 20“ anyone knows if 255/35 20“ is going fine instead? (on original GT4 wheels)
I was planning to try the 255's to get some more front tyre but I have had enough clearance issues as it is with standard sizes. They definitely make them in 245 so i'm surprised you can't get them!
Great comparison. How do lap times compare and how about grip and handling versus each other?
Setting grip to 95% and street tyres gets lap times pretty close. The handling basics and braking points are there so it's a good learning tool. The setup adjustments in the game are a bit too limited to get it handling just like the real car but it is still pretty good.
Hey man, I also have a gt4 and just picked up a set of these. What PSI are you running front/back that you’ve found works best?
About 1.9Bar front and 2.2Bar rear when hot seems to be a sweet spot, maybe even a little lower in the rear.
lift off oversteer
Thats was understeer, oversteer is when you start drifting
@@fishlickmustaches8088 nope, you can see the car rotate and him applying opposite lock to correct the loss of rear tire traction
That telemetry is nuts 🤯. How did you get an oversteer/understeer gauge??
The Porsche track precision app connects to the car and must be pulling that data from the stability control module. I've just visualised it with my racerender template from the csv file it spits out.
I guess that won’t work on my supra then 😅. But very cool to set up tour suspension, big up for porsche on that one 👍
@@paulg3870 Yea its natively supported with my car, you might be able to deduce something using wheel speed sensors and G forces but it would be a very technical challenge.

Great lap as always! Did you ever try 255/35 - 20 AD09s on stock wheel?
No I haven’t. I have had clearance issues with standard wheels and tyres so no desire to go bigger.
Nice video Steve. What are the advans like on the street compared to the cup2’s when it comes to comfort and road noise?
Very similar. Better in the wet with no real downside. I used AD08's in the past and they were extremely noisy but the AD09's aren't really any louder than the Cup 2's.
nah u definitely got some beef with the first dude 💀
Are those cup 2's N0 porsche code? Or just regular cup 2's?
They are the N1 Porsche ones.
Great work thanks or the info
what about the behaviour on several laps ? endurance ? What's your point of view on a long term comparison with the Cup2 ?
Much more durable than Cup 2's. They still fall off when they get hot but they definitely hold on better over a stint than Cup 2's do.
@@SteveReed33 they aren’t available in my size (997 gt3 -19’) but I would to test a set of A052 for my next semi slick set especially for wet conditions !
@@lomnt3402 A052 are quite a different tyre. They are faster over 1 lap but nowhere near as durable, and will overheat a lot easier. Good in the wet but not as durable as the AD09.
what color is the wire to put it on a switch
I wish I did more to document it back at the time but this was nearly 9 years ago. Button still works perfectly.
@@SteveReed33 🥲can’t find no info on the forums
I may have documented it on OzMPSclub and Mazdaspeed forums back in the day but MSF is gone and OzMPSclub a ghost town. I would take a closer look at my car but removing the trim was a huuuuuge headache!@@MegaXavier1999
Just downloaded wakefield for assetto. Haven't raced on it yet. It looks so good.
You put the wrong spacer inbetween the bolt and the wrench. You it needs to be as flush as possible to your rims.
Your front discs are the other way around .... the grooves need to face forward.
I would rather the grooves face backwards than the cooling vanes tyvm.
Andthe AD09R will still come. (I hope)
This is just brilliant, I was looking for a tire to replace my Cup2s with AD09 on my 718 GT4, first search and your video came up. Mine is manual as well and similar setup with camber. Much thanks for the comparison and review 👏🏻
what was the lap time?
Without a G-G diagram the comparison is not really useful.
Jesus some of you guys are hard to please. Will you settle for a side by side? czcams.com/video/YKjD47ZI5vo/video.html
@SteveReed33 why even bother with these kinds of comments? Lol.

thanks mate, very concise video. nice driving too
try new cup 2 s next time. poor test without new for new tyres
My Cup 2 Lap time was with brand new tyres. I had been pegged to my previous PB for over a year through multiple sets of Cup 2's and these tyres wiped the floor with them in a single night.
Nice lap, imagine how fast you'd go with the engine running!
Gret review,! How much camber do you run front and rear?
How are they wearing Steve? We're about to run some on a customer's 991 GT3RS (265/35R20, 325/30R21) and I'm very excited to see the results against a Cup2
I have done about 6-7 track days now plus 2 drift days and they are just starting to reach the wear indicators. Lap times have dropped slightly but are still outperforming Cup 2's. I think the only reason I will ever buy Cup 2's again will be to have on the car when I sell it.
What digital dash recorder is that? Factory?
Data is from the Porsche Track Precision app. Visualised using a custom RaceRender template.
🎉 'PromoSM'
Waiting the ad 09 for the FL5.... I hate that they are not available in the correct size for my 992 gt3
Just run the 265/35R20 front and 325/30R20 rear then?
Size not legal in Italy
AD09 is a great tyre.
Try Yokohama A052 to go even quicker. But they wear out very quickly.
Yep I plan to do that eventually, but they are more expensive as well as less durable so unless I really need that extra lap time I am good.
Whar caused that to happen?
i think not braking in a straight line
Snap oversteer happens when the weight of the car gets transfered to the front during deceleration, causing the rear tires to lose grip.
@@arambojubrwhat causes too much weight to shift? late braking?
@@itsjayzz7611 or just lifting off the throttle too quickly
@@Scotty-vs4lf yea
Nice! Been a Yokohama fan for many years. Always perform well. Thanks for the video. 👍
Did you do the track as well?
Not this weekend, just the Motorfusion.
Lmao
Boo-urns
the sketchiest raceway ive ever seen. Must make for more adrenaline?
It's actually an old Go Kart track, speeds are pretty low so it's not too dangerous.
Looks a little rough (the track I mean)
Yea it's a goat track, mostly used for drifting but why not have a play?
what did you run for pressure?
You can see it in the data in the video but these days I run what Manthey Racing recommends, 1.9bar front and 2.0bar rear (hot)
@@SteveReed33hey saw both videos, thanks very much. Do you know why the recommend lower pressure ? On the PSC2 I think they recommend the standard pressure 2.0/2.3 with their setup. After some time what do you think of the thread wear, you reckon it’ll hold longer than PSC2? Cheers!
The lower I run them the faster I seem to go. Tread life and heat cycle life on the AD09's is way better than Cup 2's.
Lovely car mate. That track looks like good fun, especially at night! Great review and nice driving. ❤
Is it working as it’s supposed to be or not?
Yes this is working normally.
Great info thanks for posting, what cold & hot pressures do run with the AD09?
I was running about 25PSI cold in the front and they handled that just fine. Can probably go even lower as the pyro was showing signs of overinflation at anything above 30PSI when hot. They handle the lower pressures much, much better than the Michelins do.
@@SteveReed33 Thanks just ordered these, what about the rear tyres, same as front?
@@jimg2812 Depends on the car but 1-2psi more in the rear for mine.
Hi, did you ever try by any chance 255/35 AD09 on the stock fronts?
I have always used yokohama. The new ad09 is a superb overall tyre and they perform well in wet conditions and last longer. One of the best advantages over the Michelin is the steering feel and off centre sharpness. I do not use michelins for this reason as the sidewalls are too soft which gives a numb steering response and when driving at the limit the tyre feels like it wants to roll over and feels squishy. And they are overpriced for what they deliver. I bet off the bat, you would have noticed the better steering.
very interesting 👍🏾, i saw your Video before, and bought a set. 1. Impressions are good, but I didn’t try it on the Track already.
I was looking for a solid track tire I can use on the street that wasn't gonna leave me broke my cars gonna be around 500whp I think these should be perfect
Very nice telemetry overlay!
Great review, just bought these for my Lotus so will be interesting to see if i get similar results. What cold pressure did you start off with on these?
I was starting around 25/26psi in the front and they didn't roll over at all like the Michelins did. I am going back again this weekend and will take some measurements with the pyro to see how the temps go across the face. Aiming for 30/32psi when hot but will adjust if any measurements are out.
@@SteveReed33 i will be using them Sunday on track for the first time, let's compare notes !
@@SteveReed33How did you end up going with the temp data? Did you have to alter pressures?
Most measurements I took indicated they were overpressured. I have been running them at about 28/30psi front/rear and getting better temperature readings. The lower I run them the better they seem to perform.
What temps were you seeing, if you don’t mind me asking? Mine were reaching into the 70’s
