ACL Surgery
This is right before, right after, and the day after my ACL knee surgery. Except for the beginning when I'm super nervous, I seem to crack jokes the entire time (perhaps it was the pain killers). Make no mistake, this was quite painful.

Fun fact: they both studied fencing in real life.
Ppl call this realistic 🙄
Amazing movie.
Growing up, my parents had the rule of “Everyone must be home Friday night. No exceptions.” It stood until my youngest sibling left home. Friday was family night. Even in HS we had to follow the rule, and if we (brothers) had a date, they were allowed to come too. It was always TGIF, 60 Minutes, and then a new movie we hadn’t seen. Popcorn, pizza, togetherness: it was so much fun! Mom and Pops took turns picking the film. One night, in 1988, was Mom’s turn and she picked this movie because she liked Rob Reiner a lot. We all (dad) kinda’ fussed because these were the days when Arnold and Sly were cranking out blockbuster after blockbuster and we all thought, based on the title alone, that we were in for a dud. Mom didn’t waiver and told us to trust her. By the time the film came to end, we were ALL overjoyed at what we’d just seen. And Mom, with a smile as wide as the ocean beamed with her trademark “Told you so.” We never questioned her picks again. I love you, Mom and Pops ❤ - married almost 50 years this 2024.
this movie is the goat.
(From the books perspective) During them time the story took place Spaniards were well known for their skills with a sword. So if Wesley didn't have a Spanish swordsman teacher or two he never would've stood a chance against Inigo.
I admire how Montoya actually have Wesley his sword before the duel began. Wesley could have attached Montoya and run but he didn't. An admirable sense of respect and honor between the two of them
Far better characters and sword choreography than most films of this generation.
Both actors had to learn the other's part for this scene.
One of the best, most well written stories/movies ever made. Or everyone's just so humble and likable.
I watched all of Young Sheldon, just because Vizzini was in it. I don't even like the big bang theory.
I’m left-handed, and I want to take up fencing so I can say, “because, I am NOT right-handed!” And do the reverse 🤣
A lot of this movie is made to be really cheesy and corny, the choice of music, the camera-work, sound-effects and so on... but this is one of the best fight scenes in cinema history and Inigo is the best swashbuckling Rogue ever put to film. The mutual respect that Inogo and Westley display is just something else. To describe this scene, I think it best to quote it itself: "I've never seen its equal."
The part that always makes me smile is Inigo´s "... because I know something you don´t know!" Love the way he delivers that line!
I would love for Disney to make two series for Inigo Montoya and for Wesley on Disney plus. Like origin stories
Remember when dialogue was good in movies? I remember...
“No one of consequence” is the finest response to “who are you” that has ever been conceived.
One of the things that emphasizes how great the storytelling here is that when Inigo hands his sword over to a man he just met, a man who he KNOWS his job is to kill, it literally isn't even a question that this masked man would kill him with that sword.
1:19 me trying to figure out if the image im looking at is ai generated or not.
Me and my son watched this, and he asked what was the difference. I said it wasn't the words that convinced the masked man. It was the way he said it. Inigo was jovial in majority of the conversation. But was sincere when invoking his father's name.😊😊
I always love Montoya is so proud of his father's sword he hands it off to his enemy without a second thought.
Fun fact! These two actors trained for (Elwes and Patinkin) actually learned how to fence both left and right handed as well as performed ALL of the fencing! The fluidity of their movements shows me the amount of effort that was put into this movie.
in reality duels usually last about 30 seconds and don't flash swords about.
This is such an amazing movie.
When inigo is pushing westley against the cliff and westley says "im not left handed either" inigo could have continued to force westley over the cliff and won, instead inigo backs off because he wants to fight westley at his full capacity.
Agree he had many chances to cheat to win if he wanted to but his personality wouldn't let him win without 100% skills
Who are you? No one of consequence. I must know. Get use to disapointment. k...
480p, just like the 80's.
Best movie ever, great cast, great lines and great actors
Script writers and directors need to watch this to understand how to construct a perfect scene. Or a perfect movie, for that matter.
"Whether I am or not, you've been more than fair." I hope to use this one day... maybe even in the bedroom.
Inigo is a better swordsman that Westley. Let me sum up: ... No, there is too much, let me explain: In the books, it is explained that Inigo is a wizard. That is the only other plateau above grandmaster in sword fighting, and it is mentioned in the book that there are only 3-4 other Wizards in existence. He is also a Spaniard, and for those of you with any knowledge of historical fencing, you'll know that the Spanish Destreza style of fencing is widely regarded as the most lethally efficacious. (Watch The mask of Zoro to see some excellent Destreza style training) Westley was a prodigy. If he had started fencing at the same time as Inigo we wouldn't even be having this conversation. He learned everything he learned in 5 years compared to Inigo's studying for his entire life. But Westley also learned on a ship, which means he more than likely learned to focus on an entirely different form of fencing. I'd wager to say that Westley was at the level of a grandmaster, but as far as the sharpness of his mind goes, he was twice as brilliant as Inigo. Westley is always observing, and he not only learned that Inigo was a Spaniard, but saw the ornamentation of his handle, and had an up close look at his right hand's callouses just as he was cresting the cliff, and in that short amount of time, put it together that he was facing a swordsman of "inconceivable" skill, which is why he immediately plays against Inigo's ego by drawing his sword left-handed behind his back, while panting. Inigo sees this and thinks he's going to get to fight a left-handed fighter, and wants him to be as rested as possible. Westley then endears himself to Inigo, treating his opponent with respect and bringing his would-be assassin to the point of actually having him say, "You seem a decent fellow I hate to kill you." Which is leagues beyond the level of affection he had for him just 5 minutes prior. He then proceeds to tucker him out, and uses his terrain to his advantage, forcing Inigo to fight in a more constrained close-quarters manner, instead of out in the open where he would have had the clear upper hand. He indulged him in fighting left-handed because he wanted to encourage a protracted duel, knowing that even though that was Inigo's goal, it was also his weakest point, because a swordsman of that level of skill hasn't likely, for many years, actually had a protracted duel. He then begins to banter about swordsmanship with him, which, in my opinion, was simply to confuse Inigo about what was going through Westley's mind, and how he was controlling the situation. (Remember, Westley wins all three of his duels with Inigo, Fezzik, and Vizzini by using his mind. Utilizing their assumptions about him against them) It isn't until he clearly has the upper hand, and Inigo is exhausted, swinging with both hands on his sword, that he engages in his final tactic: distracting him by flicking his hair out of his face with his sword. A move that he knows Inigo is going to respond to no matter what, as evidenced by the two blade marks on either side of his face. Westley meant what he said when he stated he would rather destroy a stained glass window than an artist like Inigo, as he recognized Inigo's skill wholly and without mistake. Inigo was, and is, a better swordsman than Westley, he just wasn't half the fighter, or tactician.
There's a reason this is one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history
I just love how they are treating a duel to the death as casual as going to your office job in the morning lol.

i love this movie!!! i wanna be the princess tho😂❤

Greatest. Swordfight. Ever.
Inigo’s little smile right before the fight begins is such a nice touch. He’s finally found someone who can match him. He knows this is going to be fun.
“Please understand I hold you in the highest respect” such a great line.
The reason I love this movie is moments like 0:33 Wesley knows he is likely making the dumb decision logically, but in each one of these fights he reads the opponent in their opening moments. The giant gave up surprise for a fair fight, Inigo swore on his father’s memory to assist Wesley for a fair bout, and the Sicilian he kills because he’s the only man that didn’t show honor or integrity in their fight so Wesley has none himself then. He is a gentleman pirate and plays it the whole movie so well
I'd also like to know how the dude lands 6 feet away from the sword at 5:33..... Then teleports to it like Samara from the Ring at 5:34.....
So the 6 fingered man demands the sword by the dude's father.... When the guy tells him to go screw, he "slashed him through the heart"..... Then Indigo challenges him to a fight and gets his ass kicked..... My question is, how did Indigo end up with the sword if he never saw him again? You telling me that after the 6 fingered man demanded the sword and killed the guy over it when he wouldnt give it up that he just decided to leave it there with the dude's son?.... Don't tell me that the father had the sword hidden somewhere either because you're talking about a guy who has a water torturing device and gets off on torturing people.... He wouldnt have killed the father so easily if he wasnt getting the info he wanted.... He would tortured the guy for the swords location before killing him....
