The mansion is s gorgous but boy, these people really thought they were royalty. Money could have been put to much better use.

The tour guide doesn't even pronoune their name correctly. They're Vanderbilts, not Vanderbelts.

People need to stop going here, buying food, and then going downstairs and hopping the train or begging for a free ride. Pay for the damn train or don’t buy the food.

Well! We can certainly, see how they feel about the tourists! They're sending them down the SERVANT stairs! Ugh! I hope these people aren't paying much for this tour. Why should they? They're not being paid much respect in return for their patronage. I would be appalled if I had to use the servant stairs! It's absurdly, inconsiderate and rudely insulting! At this point, I'd be insisting that my driver get me out of here!

I'm not entirely sure the Vanderbilts were trying to "imitate European royalty" by having separate bedrooms. My parents had separate bedrooms and if I were to marry, I would want separate bedrooms as well. Does that make my family imitators of European royalty? If it does, I had no idea until today!

I'm glad to see the stonework facade & cement curbing outside, all dark and mildewed. Now, I don't feel so badly, about my place.
