I built them myself. Looked at several others boxes and some commercially available and designed them. Definitely not professional quality but for a backyard handyman they turned out pretty good.

I am just using standard wood pellets. I need to change them out though as they are pretty broken down at this point.

You can always let them choose their own mates. Several fanciers allow that to happen. Then to answer your second question: it starts in the nest. Before they are even weaned they should know who you are if you plan on flying them. They should be learning from their parents as well, being observant of how to eat and drink on their own. At weaning ensure they know how to take care of themselves. After I know they can eat and drink on their own is when I would start trap training. Once they are good at that I would move to loft flying. I wouldn’t wait to long, they are like children, they learn better when younger.

I always feed in the evening, usually I loft fly them after I get home from work which means they are brought in by the food. When I toss I toss in the mornings before work so no food aside from what they got the night prior.
