I never really got the tedious/filler moon thing; but I think it's a problem of framing. The fact that the moons you get from throwing a hat on a rock or whatever are the same as the moons you get for doing a challenge level or something interesting incentivizes you to pick them all up like you would with stars in previous games, when to me the moons were more like fun distractions on the way to the actual goal. I think this game suffers in the postgame because you're JUST looking for moons. During the story you have a good time by touring through pretty locations on the way to accomplish a story goal and essentially picking up cool rocks you find along the way. 100%ing this game is something I have tried twice but never could do it completely, and I think this video summarizes the reason why pretty well. Getting a moon feels really good but the fact you do it up to 900 times really devalues that feeling. I think making most the 'filler ' objectives into moon shards, or even a different currency, cutting the moon total down to maybe 300 at most. Giving the player a reward for poking around would incentivize players to go around and just have a good time in the world instead of stopping for a solid 10 seconds to watch the moon cutscene would reduce aggravation and that need to get every moon. Make the rewards go to like, unlocking cheat codes like moon jump or big head and stuff for a ng+; it doesn't really matter what they do as long as they arent necessary to actually unlock everything
As someone who hasn't played the games to know for myself I felt so betrayed when Joseph revealed the player cards from the first video were fake, I thought those were so hilarious lmao

"Communicating poorly then acting smug when misunderstood is not cleverness". This is a hard line to straddle for good puzzle games.
I wonder if you will make a video on Black Myth: Wukong when it releases.
27:20 to this point, I actually really liked the familiar characters or move sets for that matter. My favorite moment was stumbling upon some wolf boss in one of the first caves and because the Abyss Watchers were my favorite fight in all of souls I instinctively parried this man out of existence.
as for the red dargon yet you can fight it and then in the fight curoff its taiel or aime a bow at its taiel to cotoff its pit to the taiel and as for the buonyfier on the ther sidey you can go under the birege and fight your way to undaed parasih and fine the ther buonyyfier to your right and the parasih to your left i you go to the right then down you will fine the buonyfier and below it a mistey how will help you up gaerd your wopensis ane armor thos thers one ner fier link shinre to or if you hav the ballsis to wait tel the red dargon gots down off wer its at and with a shlled and be or it trunds around run under its legs and to the buonyfier on the ther sidey with uot fighting it or kill it at the momenit you an om bake a kill it wen you feel you hav wet you need and wet you an do in mine to kill the red dargon this has ben omage apalth fo the way fo wite hav a nies day
I'm watching this video between calls at my remote job. I can relate to Lewis on a disturbing level, often finding myself staring at my work PC's ethernet cord... wanting an escape. I've been seeing a doc about it.
the issue was YOUR poor production not the games fault that is simply a skill issue while it has improved with some qol over the years this is "critique" is your own doing
Please do a video on rainworld!
You’re a mook😒
I still have a screenshot somewhere of a tweet joseph made in December 2020 claiming the video was "a week or two away" and "definitely will be out before February (2021)" I genuinely cant think of a reason why it hasnt come out yet other than it has been built up so much in his own mind, that it is stifling release due to worrying about fans/himself taking the release and content so seriously. At the end of the day it's a lesson in "dont let perfection stand in the way of pretty good". He prolly could have released that version he had in december 2020 and later could have made an update on anything he thought needed changing. Instead it feels like he's either abandoned it completely, or endlessly tinkering with it. It's a game review video, it shouldnt be considered a magnum opus Who knows
Witcher 3 video is droping tomorrow! Thank you, Joseph, it's been a long time
This people are screaming their inner dialogue to make themselves sane because they don't have the confidence to keep them inside themselves
10:00 its literally just a maze made by shadows rather than the tile. Looking only at the shadow there is only one possible path you can go through to reach the end lol.
Witcher 3 critique is droping tomorrow! We made it, boys 😀
joseph would 100% get an aneurysm from Unalloyed Malenia
I was so scared and so nervous the entire game, but I actually never died my 1st game play through as I was overly cautious and nervous and on edge. Idk the fear factor did get to me.
Is there one of these for Witcher 3? I listen to these super-long videos at work and it really helps get through the day.
If you just use the heat knife instead of the prawn suit to kill the leviathans it takes way way less time. The heat knife has good dmg and insane attack speed and you can use the stasis rifle and go right back to stabbing the big fish. I personally murdered almost every leviathan I encountered using that strat.
Bethesda could have avoided most of the hate by making prequals like a year after the bombs dropped. They could do all their braindead stories without shitting on older lore
Zelda BOTW'S genre ruined the classic Zelda base.
This guy got to play Elden Ring for $60 bucks and still found a way to complain for an hour. Some people don't deserve to play games...
just because you pay money means you can't critique something? talk about braindead npc
Still waiting for 3, this is gonna be epic
Reading the comments, I’m really happy developers don’t care about any of this.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is the biggest game which was constrained by too few enemy types and variation. That game could have been a masterpiece.
I loved witcher 2's story, HATED the gameplay. It inspired me a lot in my own writing & design. Also, funnily enough, it was my girlfriend at the time who really got me into the story in Witcher 1. She really liked the sex scenes and wanted me to "collect them all". W1 could somehow be played on multiple PCs off one DVD so I gave her the game and said to have at it. It was her obsession with finding all the sex scenes w the help of the guide book that made me really delve into the story options. I was not really sold prior to that. I did not know of the hidden perks despite three playthroughs!
I find the ending funny when he starts talking about the surgeon. Apparently there was some repercussions😂
The boss section (which is the majority of it) in this video aged poorly and has a lot of misinformation and a clear lack of understanding of the bosses. As I learn more about bosses this video subsequently becomes worse and worse. The amount of times the footage contradicts what he’s saying is very funny lol.
Well did you know you can parry almost every boss atack in Elden ring just like in Sekiro and perform a critical counter strike dealing immense amount of damage? It's just muuuuuch harder to do in Elden ring and some bosses will punish your bad parry timing with instant killing combo + the game doesn't push you to use parry (while in Sekiro you will not finish the game without it).
They don't actually expect you to get every moon, it's like korok seeds...
Long?
Well, clearly Shaun just did the Institute quest line while you were re-frozen! Classic of Bethesda to take a random outsider and elevate them to be the organization's leader 😂
I think Dune is one of the only works I've interacted with (the books first) where prophesy adds to the story instead of taking away from it. And a huge part of it is that a) the prophesy was planted intentionally by characters, and b) the prophesy is intentionally vague and doesn't tell you exactly where the story is going. Instead, it's a "safety net" put in place by a wary group of power brokers, and the universality of it is the point: anyone of their kind could step in and "prove" that the prophesy applies to them in order to gain support and acceptance in a time of need. In other words, it's an inversion of the usual prophesy nonsense.
My biggest gripe is the lack of takedown variety across the board. If you weren't able to split foes with the leviathans heavy attack on kill I'd probably refund the game. I was actually mad about the lack of blood in the game but the lore fixes it.

Wow, that trailer you showed off for Silksong looked great. I know this is a really old video, so Silksong must have come out years ago, but I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you finally get around to playing it.
"Nothing left but bone" is so funny.
Absolute dog takes
Not saying Skyrim's main story is great or anything, but how are people supposed to take you seriously as a critic when you haven't "finished" a game that you have "too many hours in"?
How did I miss a new Joseph Anderson vid!?!? It’s a good day… Welp, time to go through the whole library again.
"SOMA is not scary!" It gets pretty close in the abyss, especially when you realize that light you're heading towards is a giant anglerfish...

Why is the word like dark souls but it is not dark souls. They actively tell you that some people go to the university (its a dungeon of zombies) you also learn that there is a festival for radan (rest of the time are zombies) you also see that in the underdark there are some enemies that are intelligent and are praying to a dead god (they are zombies and you kill the god) Its the most videogame of all videogames, you go and kill everything, why? because it is a videogame. The game is trying so hard to tell you that this is not the dark souls universe and this is new and here not eveyone is a zombie (hollow) but it is And regarding the dungeons, Skyrim also has copypasted dungeons but they are more interesting. Both games have thematic dungeons like caves, outposts or whatever, but skyrim tries to make them more appealing with little stories, secrets and such. In elden ring you go from A to B killing the same enemies, get the lever, kill boss, tp back to entrance done. Even the enemies are more diverse in skyrim
Honestly, Capra is the reason I’ve never finished DS1
1:36:23 for anyone that doesn't know, the bird was going to be the original boss, but time constraints and budget didn't allow for it
For me mechanically works fine a little short on distance, but that’s whatever thing for me like because it is upon release of the button and just how they implemented that feature it feels delayed to me just feels so slightly delayed
33:04 i barely knew anything about Kratos when i bought GOW 2018 and this opening was enough to endear me to him - he's a gigantic tattooed scarred man, who caresses a tree with a handprint, which is a strange act of fondness, something i realized even when i had no idea what he was about. it's clear it means something to him, and the fact that he gets angrier as he cuts it down tells me that there's more behind the tree than it just being that then when he talks to Atreus - he's blunt, quiet, but has a booming voice that makes you want to listen when he DOES speak. i was drawn in immediately, and the devs did an awesome job
Joseph's The Witcher 3 video is our new Winds of Winter
1. In my opinion, the Hellkite Drake is a 50/50 between being fair and unfair. The game hints at it much better than just scorch marks: the drake shows up earlier in the level and flies away to the bridge, and even the undead merchant talks about it. Plus in my experience, the drake never one-shots you with its ambush attack, at least in Remastered. So I can see both sides of the argument here. 2. To add some info on the armored boar, it's a good tutorial on how to use items. The alluring skulls, which you get right here, can be used to either lure it into the fire or set up an easy plunging attack (speaking of that, it also comes in handy when you're fighting the Capra Demon) 3. Disagree completely about the Gargoyles. First of all, fighting two of them at a time is not tedious, the fire breath attacks make it easy to separate them and do some good damage if you get behind them. Besides, Gargoyles are a great tutorial for many things in the early game: - Don't always use the camera lock, sometimes the free camera control and no restrictions on rolling can be very helpful. - Use consumables (again). If you managed to save the Gold Pine Resin from Undead Burg, this fight can become pretty easy even without an upgraded weapon. - You can almost always go somewhere else if something is too hard. The Gargoyles show the biggest strength of Dark Souls: the map design. At this point, you can go to Lower Undead Burg and Darkroot Garden freely, Depths and Blighttown after that, or even New Londo if you're crazy.
