This is the first time i see this game get the love it needs. I still have the game upstairs somewhere in a box with an original SNES. But i think the saves got erased again by now. And if we talk about the music, the track when you enter the Sinstrals hideout... That heroic but tragic sound... absolutely loved it!

However the DS remake of it is pure CRAP the SNES version NEVER got ported over the DS/3DS/Switch at all.

I consider MegaMan Legends to be sort of a Metroid Prime type game. It has a somewhat open 3D world with progression that's locked behind abilities. I can definitely see some of the RPG elements there too. I really wish they would do something with MML, whether it's a remake of the classic games, or another entry in the series. Solid picks for the rest of the list. I'll definitely have to give some of the games I've never heard of a try.

Lufia 2 probably one of my favorite RPG's since the early 2000's. I really did enjoy they pulled a DQ3 in making it a prequel to Lufia. Funny thing is they enjoyed the idea of the Ancient Cave so much the dungeons of Lufia: The Legend Returns became all random dungeons.

I feel like Lufia II is one of those games I saw around a bunch, but I never actually tried. Kind of regret never having tried it, watching this. Seems like I would have enjoyed it. But alas, too many games on the plate to fit this one in, too.

You need to play through Inindo: Way of the Ninja and 7th saga next.

It is an amazing game. It's a nice casual play with the exception of a couple of puzzles. I'm talking to you red and yellow 😆. The soundtrack is one of the best of all time. The story is incredible and evokes real emotions throughout. Wish I had played this before the first Lufia.

Didn't make our 15 Must-Play RPGs! The Ancient Cave was miles ahead of its time, and it sure looked and sounded pretty, but the puzzles were often annoying, and character development was largely non-existent. Tengai Makyou Zero, however...

If you liked Battle Chasers, try the Ruined King. It's a Riot Forge game developed by Airship Syndicate. It's a refinement of the systems introduced in Battle Chasers.

Yeah I can't say jrpg for games not made by japanese devs 😅 simply rpg or jrpg inspired. From those type of games I enjoyed Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars.

I have really basic bitch taste and love Undertale and Chained Echoes. they are genuinely some of the best games I've ever played. Cosmic Star Heroine is at the beginning of this video and honestly that one (and all that company's games) is great. Fell Seal is really good for SRPGs - I was pretty amazed at just how much is in that game. only played like 7 hours of CrossCode but it was great. is WitchSpring R indie? that one for sure if it is. I did not like Sea of Stars :X

I've honestly really been wanting to play Sea of Stars. It looked a lot like the kind of game I'd want to play. I probably ought to pick it up at some point.

With Zestiria I agree as a big fan of Tales games, I've played probably all big entries, Zestiria made me to near drop the game from this IP for the first time. Combat was worse graces f, story was only ok, tho a bit boring, Sorey and Mikleo were rly boring for me, Alisha bait... I think if not Roze, Edna, Dezel, Zaveid I would drop this entry which is sad...

The game looks beautiful but maaaan that progression and leveling system sounds so backwards.

I actually adored this game and plan on doing another play through. That final dungeon that is in encore mode is really hard and will require lots of grinding. The game really has you thinking about some serious philosophical questions once you have neared the end. I like how Alegretto at the end finally believes Chopin's saying that this world is of his own creation and begs his to save Polka's life. At the beginning we see the comparison of terminally ill people can use magic such as Polka and Chopin, but Polka is compared to Chopin's little sister who died of TB back in the day. It was like AIDS was in the 80s, those who caught TB twas a death sentence. As a music major myself I really fell in love with the game and some fellow music students actually performed some of the pieces in the game as a concert. As a pianist myself I've played the Raindrop Prelude many times and am very fond of his music, but a lot of it is very difficult. He is also known as the Poet of the Piano. I agree with you, it should have been a series, there are so many stories they could have told. Especially other composers like Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Ravel, Satie, Tchaikovsky, etc. The only thing I wished I could have seen at the end of the game is perhaps the ghost of Chopin's sister coming to get him and maybe Polka seeing her and finally and truly understand Chopin's pain.

Play Legend of Mana guys for 2D and Trials of Mana for 3D

I wanted to play this but... the gameplay is so slow and boring compare to Legend of Mana which is 2D that I'd rather play the remaster than playing this, because it's more fun.

Even I did not play it as a kid, and have no Nostalgia for it. (I played Lufia II, though) i like it somehow. At first I like the graphics a lot for it's colorful tone. The world feels nice and bright. And for the time, the characters and storytelling seems to be very ahead of it's time. There is dialogue and every town has its own story, what makes the world building for me great. The world feels lively. And yes, there are a looot of battles in this game. But for some reason, it does not bother me that much. I like to sit on the couch after a hard day and enjoy this simple but colorful adventure. Running around, fighting, pressing the A button has something relaxing to me. I like this old feel of getting stronger, getting more magic spells and better weapons and armor. The game is challenging but never unfair. After dying you held your progress made, and keep all of your items, so you don't have to go through all the dungeon again. Similar to Mother. It's a little bit like a dungeon crawler. You try to get as far as you can. And after dying you can fully recover, or buy better armor, and try again but stronger. Or you can go a shorter route, cause you already opened some chests in the dungeons. Yeah the quests are not that interesting. But I see it as a episode of a series. One can play a little bit every day, and relax for a while. It's challenging but not frustrating, and it's simplicity draws me to another, simpler time, when games were like this, and it felt like a great adventure using your imagination. It might be not as polished as later entrys. But it trys some things different, and definitely had the typical Lufia touch to, that I like. And maybe one can enjoy the game more, with the heart and mind of the time period, instead comparing it to other games. It already has a lot of the typical Lufoa stuff in it. And without this game, there probably would be no Lufia II. I respect what the developers had in mind.
