Let alone for the Black people who has lived and thrived and struggled for years in these neighborhoods. Gentrification never benefits these people it only hurts them on several fronts.

    An Effort to Identify the Source of Hate in Politics My intuition suggests: Hate is the product when anyone says a certain individual(s) based on his identity should be treated differently with respect to the law. James Comey, wittingly or not, gave us this in the title of his book: "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership". While the Founding Fathers and most political professionals affirm that, as in the Declaration of independence, We are endowed by God with rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. And this concurs with God being above any man-made, secular laws. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that citizens of the U.S. submit, unconditionally, to the COTUS and the Rule of Law. No citizen or government official may ever have loyalty to other than the COTUS and the Rule of Law, when it comes to Criminal Justice. It can be shown that every Democrat, who champions Identity Politics, has made this faux pas! Democrats, RINOs and Never Trumpers who pontificate that ICE personnel and our Legendary Champion, Pres. Trump are to blame for disadvantaged children in these instances, produce truckloads of hate for Democrats! If hate could kill, there would not be any Democrats left standing. Presented with data that disproportionate numbers of certain minorities inhabit our federal prisons, the Democrats concluded "It can't be their fault!" - it has to be the "the fault of the police" or a result of slavery or the fault of law abiding Republicans and their candidate, Pres. Donald J. Trump! Why do Democrats do it? Democrats produce hate for the same reason James Comey was fired: Democrats put something else out there to which to be loyal! So one can believe in a higher power but one may not remove loyalty and the submission to the secular COTUS and the Rule of Law. Listen, if there are disproportionate numbers of People of Color in our prisons, they deserve our sympathy, but we are not helping People of Color by giving them the impression they can get away with crime. Non-Blacks have DNA that can include 2,000 to 4,000 years under some form of civilization while many People of Color may have DNA with as little as 600 years under civilization. We are not superior but it may be easier for non-Blacks to obey laws. If you are a person of Color, it may require more effort for you to abide by the laws of the land. Non-Blacks can work with you to encourage you to abide by the law. But, in your own vernacular, “Don’t do the crime if you don’t want to do the time”. By today's standards, you could say the slaves really got ripped off but in the day, 500 years ago, the food, shelter and clothing was such good compensation that, according to the book "Roots", non-Blacks who did not own property, wanting to sign up as slaves, were turned away and some subsequently, parished. As decendants of slaves, People of Color survived and have excellent work ethics, for example. And they have the same Civil Rights as non-Blacks. We can assert that Blacks and non-Blacks in our prisons belong there, though because they were, likely, found guilty by a jury of their peers. There may be cases of injustice and Conservatives support reinvestigation of such cases. But for the Democrats to perform an assault on (then) duly elected Pres. Donald J. Trump, ostensibly because he and (then) Rep. Devin Nunes offered Probable Cause that Pres. Barack H. Obama spied on the Trump Transition Team, not because Obama is Black but in spite of him being Black. Individuals have to be accountable, not to the color of their skin but to the nature their deeds. Racism is giving credit or disrepute based on one's race. The Democrat effort to perjure themselves to Obstruct Justice for the American people regarding Pres. Barack Obama is, therefore, a racist act and Democrats will be held accountable. As for the New York DA, Alvin Leonard Bragg Jr. , Sir, you are presenting as an individual with no education and no personal life experience! Do you even acknowledge that prosecuting people for whom there is clear Probable Cause is not just an OPTION for you but a goddamn DUTY? You ugly punk resembling a horses ass, if you don't apply your training to punish criminals of ALL kinds, you, my dear DEMOCRAT, are CULPABLE for Deriliction of Duty and we can make YOU punishable for the crimes of the guilty people you let go ! You need to be careful, guy, because, the way you present yourself as a big shot and not a bright eyed and bushy tailed civil SERVANT, you can be construed as the POSTER CHILD who, together with BLM and Pres. Barack H. Obama, are the people responsible for HATE in America. I am not threatening you with VIGILANTE JUSTICE, you little PUNK but somebody should! Jack Darby _____

    Removal of the Governor Clinton and Hotel Pennsylvania is NOT NECESSARY to achieve through-running. The misconception is based on a 2013 rendering (the most recent rendering in public view) of the proposed two-level Penn Station South, which for reasons unknown included platform tracks extending across 7th Avenue and under the Governor Clinton as part of the initial upper level, to be built first, before the lower level was to be extended in a tunnel to Queens. The general configuration in this drawing is highly circuitous and slow including trackage that isn't needed in order to realize more than adequately lengthy platform space at Penn South, without demolishing the Governor Clinton. And besides, there is yet no need to have the Queens tunnel any wider than the street allows there, but because of modifications in Queens in conjunction with East Side Access, capacity in Queens has been limited to two tracks going onto the Northeast Corridor, as against the plans for enlargement to four tracks laid out for future needs before the line opened in 1910. Without the additional two tracks, and given the already severe scheduling limitations now coming online with East Side Access and the Penn Station Access Project, there will need to be a work-around of East Side Access in order to get four tracks there, before another East River Tunnel from Penn Station can be built. More through-running from Penn can't be handled in Queens without.

    While the statement that "sustainable urban growth focuses density at transportation hubs" is based on the sound principle of avoiding excess use of mechanized transportation, which is considered hard to sustain in terms of environmental resources, the two examples given have fallen grievously flat. San Francisco's Transbay Terminal is not a terminal at all. Plagued by problems of mishandling of the imported pot metal used for structural elements of the building, it was found unsafe for use as a terminal facility for buses shortly after it opened in 2018. Temporary bus facilities in use since demolition of the previous Transbay Terminal were reopened for what was then seen as an indefinite period, with the bus terminal reopening more than a year later and public trust at new lows. Meanwhile the promised train station has failed to materialize, and there are questions whether it is physically possible given constraints of the built environment including the highway bridges which conduct buses into the new terminal. Demolition of tall buildings will no doubt be part of any plan to connect CalTrain by a circuitous route from its existing terminus more than a mile to the south, as well as the proposed cross harbor tunnel which SHOULD be used or shared by the high speed rail line, to avoid hogging all capacity of CalTrain for service on a Coastline route - the old route which is far more populous than CAHSR, and a better bet as to some degree of solvency. CAHSR should use a new Altamont Pass tunnel - which could be accomplished with a single tube as opposed to the current CalTrain-intensive plan, which requires eighteen or so. The Transbay Joint Powers Authority is a cautionary tale. As for the Grand Central area: The existing chimney-shaped super-scraper came at the expense of some to-die-for Cass Gilbert mullions five stories tall, the which 15-story frontage was more in proportion to the (giant enough with 67 platforms on two levels of tracks) scale of the station. The Vanderbilt Avenue deal has had the effect of turning the only convenient place to get a taxi at GCT - with its giant Guastavino vaults - into a permanent latrine, and high crime area, that everyone avoids if possible. They were supposed to have a lot of restaurants there but nobody was able to make a go of it. (all of this occurring prior to COVID) Now if you want to get a taxi you have to go through the manned waiting line on 42nd Street with rope barriers and bollards to handle the crowds, which causes incessant traffic problems in the westbound lanes, with two lanes of taxis cutting across traffic to get to the pickup line two taxis thick. And soon we'll be blessed with ANOTHER ONE STILL BIGGER! - to make the belittlement and assault against one of our greatest NY icons complete. I mean what've you got besides Grand Central: there's the UN, the Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Bldg. - not much else. There has been an ongoing conspiracy to get GCT torn down, and now that it's in public hands the chances of it seem that much more likely - three credible attempts in my lifetime.

    A true airport to city connection would be just that, tracks which go from terminal to main train station, so from the airport directly to Grand Central & Penn Station. One seat travel w/ no transfer. JFK and LaGuardia should also be connected by a rail continuous system. These are basic transportation requirements in any major city . Every city in Europe has this type of simple train service.The main station has a direct no stop or one stop direct train to the airport. Simple. Even Eastern Europe is more advanced than this plan has mapped out. That said I applaud the aspirations and attempts to have a rail link. 4 trains an hour sounds great, I look forward to using any system that gets built.

There was no audience nor were there questions asked by any audience member or the moderator Alan. • @alexo5190
    @alexo5190 Před 3 lety

    It would've been helpful if they mentioned specific financial, economic or fiscal targets they're going to achieve and the specific amount of time it's going to take for them to achieve it. Every candidate said 'Im going to do this and that' yet not a single one said by when and that they guarantee it. They should be forced to make a concrete promise, like even if they said 'Im going to reduce spending by $1000 dollars by my 200th day in office' at least it's something we can hold them accountable for. And if they don't complete their promise, there should be a monetary consequence, for instance their salary should be based on performance targets, and when they don't meet those targets they make less money. Otherwise what's the incentive for them actually be accountable for their promises?

How can we be one of the richest cities in the world but our basketball courts are in disarray? Also we need calisthenics equipment in every park in NYC.
