I love this album.

When musicians are totally exhausted there is the potential for their best performance ever. That condition takes them to another place. Into the infinite possibilities. To tired so the ego is destroyed, if they have the courage they can play beyond their abilities. That’s the real magic. I’ve seen it happen quite a few times myself. We all love when the magic happens.

There's a video of Jonathan Glazer speaking about the video and at one point he mentions giving Jay feedback on his dancing and Jay said, "Listen, I've been doing this in the mirror since I was six years old - I know what I'm doing." That still makes me giggle to this day 😂 Also can't believe the lack of mention of Glazer's career as time went on. The guy is responsible for the legit masterpieces Sexy Beast and Under The Skin - the latter is VERY worth watching, if you've not seen it. Fucking brilliant.

Aside from all the needless physical theatrics, the music is no better or no worse than others. He is hardly a significantly better piano player than dozens of the already established best players.

I didn't know the background story of this album. The funny thing is though that without knowing anything about it I would have said the piano sounds really good, characterful and interesting. It would have never occured to me that it's some clapped out old thing.

Wally's a good guy! A true artist. I wonder if he regrets sampling other people's records though. I don't know why anyone does that since it'll cost you especially if you have a hit. I didn't know he was paying 45% of it. I would think that song could have easily been a hit without the samples. His voice is great and it's a catchy yet unique song. I've talked to him before but not about any of this. We talked about Chamberlins if you know what that is! Btw I LOVE this trashcan drum set in the video. Brilliant. Lots of respect for his creativity and artistic spirit.

I always thought that pet was a substitute for the word favorite or best. As in the phrase "pet peeves." I think the cover showing them feeding animals is a misleading but clever image playing off that. It's a great title for any recording.
