Would anyone say this book is outdated?

For a 5 gallon grow, most living soil recipes state should use as 1/3 then finish remaining 2/3 with compost/soil, would you recommend the same? Specifically for Growing Autoflower. Thanks in advance.

Where do you get crab meal? Is blood meal a substitute?
