Strange to not include a highly influencial family from cork county on here. The Gallery family was banished from clare, went to scottland, came back to conquer Galway [hence the name similarity] and was welcomed back with nobility. We even have a family historian.
There’s heaps of Irish surnames on here where iam from
woods here and hammond, corbett. :)
I see both my fathers and mothers names are here. I'm Australian without much knowledge of how we for here. Most of my family look Irish as... I feel like something has been taken. We come from ancient clans. We even had family crests and ancient seats.
Geraghty appears in Roscommon where it originated but also in Galway. My ancestor was from Meath. No idea how far back they mived from Roscommon.
Surname is McCann. (Mac Cana; “Son of Cana” meaning wolf cub. Convict to Australia, 1826 i believe. Married to O’hara, Family tree names are Byrne, Hogan, Kelly, Sheehan, Fogarty, Ryan, Carmody.. And much more! Lmao
Where is Gorgan from in Ireland? Google says Cork and Kerry. With it being from Harrigan and Hanrahan before Irish Anglicization
My last name is Brady, found it on the map. But am constantly teased in reference to the TV show.
Can't see Moran my mum's nana
NO Bradley there some in Co Meath
The Kelly/Kelley's are all over the map. Just like here in the USA. My brothers Michael and Patrick are everywhere too. : )
I keep searching for Jackson's. I never met my father. All I know about him was he was W B Jackson from Alabama. I know at least one Jackson family came to the US. I don't know what to believe because they are listed as Quakers. I don't know why given all that happened in Ireland why would you want to be a Quaker? It's interesting that my wife is a second generation Scot. My grandmother was English and immigrated to the US. She was a high end milliner and made hats for the wealth women in New York.
Any information on the surnames Courtney and size?
Didn't spot my name anywhere.
Any Pollock families out there ?
McKernan ?
searching for coughlin or mccoughlin
it might be a variant of O'loughlin (in Meath, grandson/descendant of Lochlainn) or McLaughlin (in Inishowen (island of Owen), son of Lochlainn) {they are related}. Niall's son Eoghan (Owen) migrated north/northwest of Derry where Inishowen is named after him. I need to identify how far down from him did his descendant mix with a norse woman I believe which may have given the name Lochlainn (son of lake/sea & land). McLaughlin which is my name, is Mc (son) Laugh/Loch (lake/sea), lin/lainn (land). Tyrone/Tir Eoghan (Owen, Land of Owen) is also named after him, this man GOT AROUND Ulster!! But the family is still relatively "small" in comparison to others, I think it's due to what happened.

Good to know that I have found Harty, Griffin, and Kavanagh .
Hayes from Tipperary here❤
I’m a descendent of Marguerite O’Haran-Booth. I’m told that we came from Sligo. She was born 1897-1968. I never got to meet her but I was told wonderful stories. Someday I will get to visit 🍀❤️
What about Rogers?
find out possible variants of the name. however, from what i am seeing thus far, it appears to English not Irish.
Just taken a quick look and found within seconds that many of these dipicted are not sole Irish, are you lot so desperate to have poor, staving Irish amongst your ancestors?

I am trying to find Mullins, it is quite difficult to go through this mappingof so many Sir-Names. If anyone could help me, I would thoroughly appreciate it. Thank you But I am still trying!
There's lots of Mullins in Cork, maybe start there.
I paused the video when Westmeath popped up, and searched for my Gram’s family, and yep, there they were! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I found my name in the County Cork.
Grandmas maiden name was Harrah which i guess was changed from O'Hara at some point .
The surname "Griffin" has two primary Gaelic sources in Ireland, which pertain to the towns of Ballygriffey in Co. Clare, and Ballygriffin in Co. Cork. The spelling "Ó Gríofa. I have traced my one part of my family history to Ireland and found cousins too. But I cannot see that name of your map?
My mother's maiden name was Dean and he was born in Bradford I think but I was told that his side of the family came over from Ireland not sure when but I could not find a Dean on the map.
Where does the Mcsharry name come from
I don’t see my name. Does anyone know where the name Ryan is from?

2 mentions in Limerick at 5:36. I was looking around Clare, where I'm told my Gt grandfather had a pub.
Cheers, interesting map. My name is Jason Patrick Quinn. All the first born boys in the line are J -- Patrick Quinn, my Grandfather Joseph and my Great Grandfather John and so on.
These are irelands heritage folk (1st nations) arguably
Where are the LISTONs in Limerick???
look for a name similar or try to find a variant, Liston could have been anglicized from the original. As much as mine is anglicized it's on here.
I can never find Dunn, it must have been made up.
The spelling may be different. Dunne? Many families had varying spellings of their surnames. Look to County Kildare at 4:48.
Anyone know where the name Reazin comes from? Was told we had an ancestor with that name came from Ireland.
Could you tell me where this information was derived from? And where one might find it?
@5:51 McNaughton bottom right of center.
@1:19 McNickle, McKenney next to each other bottom center.
I don't see Starr. Many were Captains from 1300's to 1800's then immigrated to US.
Are they Aglesised names or purely Irish.?
mine listed with the anglicized, so i believe mostly anglicized names here.
I can't seem to find the Bann clan here😐
My Maiden name Crossan is on this map from Donegal cant find my Mums maiden name Cord but found my Great Grandmothers name of McCarthy plus many more thank you for this ❤❤❤
Well done Kevin. O'Mullally / Mullally or it's derivative Lally, originating in South Galway and now also prominent in Tipperary and Kilkenny is not included
My name is Gilmartin i think they come from sligo
I have some serious doubts about the efficacy of this map. The family name Moran dominates the Sligo/Mayo border and the town of Ballina is full of shops with the name above, but they are not shown at all on this map.
Ayy I'm a Moran. Apparently there was 2 Irish Moran familys that migrated to the US a long long time ago.
...and the there's the famous Aussie Moran's.
its got me out in the ocean, wtf does that mean?
Most real Irish, changed there names for a reason, when they left, only a few know who the rightfully royal of the lands belong too,
Our Family Name is O'Dopey, so what part of Ireland are we from I wonder?
The O'Dopey's hail from a small island off the west coast of Ireland called the Isle of FaakOff.
