Oh please, get me over this. Like what the hell is all this? Plots and stories involving "Villain who's done many terrible things being forgiven due to a sympathetic past" is supposed to be garabage writing that can only be seen in third tier anime, not in a game that's made by a company that has some of the best resources in the world. You people are tollerating and encouraging incompetence and low quality story by supporting how they handled Scaramouche's character development. (Even Uchiha Obito in Naruto didn't get away with what he did; he died on his redemption path while trying to protect Kakashi, remember?) And before we start further discussing Saramouche, let's try answering the questions below: Who was it that killed the 5 clans of Isshin Art, which ultimately lead to the great decline of Kaedehara clan and Kamisata clan? And do you think he doesn't owe any atonement and apology to Kazuha and the current Kamisato siblings because of this? (Let's also not forget what Scarambouche did indirectly caused Kazuha to leave his clan and set on a path of wanderer) Who was it that helped MOST in overseeing the construction and running operations for all the Delusion Factories for distributing Delusions that will harm many people? And who was it that tried to use Delusion Factories as a method to manipulate Inazuma poltics and further exacerbate the civil turmoil of Inazuma for , which nearly lead to an all-out civil war that will greatly harm citizens of both Watatsumi and Narukami island? Who was it that greatly helped facilitating Azar's plan in chaining Nahida inside a prison for centuries? Who was it that tried to use Nahida as a catalyst for this path to deity, which will literally KILL Nahida in the process? Who was it that helped Azar abusing the Akasha system for harnessing power, a process that nearly killed Nilou and many other innocent Sumeru citizens as shown in 3.0, just so that he can empower himself further? Sure, it's easy for you to blame the Doctor or Azar or the whole of Fatui or even the Queen of Snezhnaya for everything above, but that does this ERASE THE FACT that Scaramouche PLAYED A CRUCIAL ROLE in all of the crimes above? Scaramouche was definitely someone who has own free will and he know quite well what kind of damage the above events could cause and he chose be part of it anyone UNDER HIS OWN TERMS instead of walking away, which he could have done at any point for the centuries he's lived; he freely and willfully sided with the evil beings like the Doctor and Azar and did just as much harm (if not more) as they did. And sure, you can also argue the classic "of course a villain should do villainous things". Well he's NOT IN the villain idenity ANYMORE at this point, is he? He's the Wanderer now and he's supposed to be doing everything he can to make up for this mistakes. And let's not forget that even the Doctor or Azar payed a trememodous price to "somehow get away" with their crimes in Sumeru: Azar had to go through eternal banishment and the Doctor was forced to kill all his clones (and believe me, he's got more payback on the way). Meanwhile, what did Scaramouche/Wanderer do to redeem himself? Oh yes, that's right? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING even as of this day. Everything Mihoyo writers have delivered us up to this point was just using his background narrative and personal quest to show us that he has a sympathetic past and we should all forgiven him for his "innoncence and ignorance" instead of trying to give us an actual redemption arc, a path he SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON if he's ever allowed to live by the writers; other this, he's just wandering around and attending different versions' major events like a completely free man who doesn't seem to even slightly repent for this mistakes, let alone making apologies or redemptions. The reality around Scaramouche/Wanderer is: That he's a freaking WAR CRIMINAL who tried to conveniently avoid making redemption for his crimes by literally brainwashing everyone in Teyvat, and he did it by altering the memories stored in Iriminsul; he knew full well Iriminsul was nothing more than a memory storage device which DOESN'T change the past even if you make changes with it, and he really wanted to right wrongs, he should go find ways to help his victims as well as their descedants. He should go to Inazuma, make apologies to both current remaining members of Kamisato and Kaedehara clan and do whatever they request of him to make things right/better; he should help fixing every bit of damage he's caused during the Sumeru arc, saying tons of sorries to all those people who almost got-killed/never able to wake up because of the schemes he's involved in. Trying to alter Iriminsul is nothing but acts of a coward who's too afraid to spend a long time to right his wrongs and endure the rage of his victims. If the ultimate price of altering Iriminsul is actually Scaramuche's past-self erased entirely from existence, then fine, I can accept that. At least, he tried to atone for his crimes by killing himself. But NO, not only was his past-self and memories brought back, we're now in a state where no-one in Teyvat will ever be able to trace back and find that he was the actual person responsible; he basically manipulated the truth itself. Like seriously, one change of identity and you think your sins are just gone/foriggiven? That you no longer need to make redemption for them? Blade from Honkai Star Rail is gonna laugh his ass out if he hears this. So yeah, here is the real reason for the hate: they hate him because he's a major villain who tried to first escape from his crimes by distorting the reality itself as well as everyone's memories and then proceed to NEVER do anything to right his wrongs. Even the Scaramouche fans in the Chinese community, a community which some of you would like label with toxicity (so imagine how hard it is for Scaramouche fans to survive in that environment, because they must be really damn ardent in their love the character), are now starting to hate Scaramouche/Wanderer because the redemption arc NEVER happend.

I'm not a girl, so the best character to me is not Furina ofc, but Neuvillette. Furina's story was pretty deep tho, that's for sure, I went all the way from irritation to compassion for her. In the beginning I was straight up hating her, she was annoying af, but as the story got to its climax I really felt that loneliness and hardship she went through. Some Fontaine quests really surprised me with their quality and drama.

We are a little of everything, a variety of grays depending on the sunlight in times of darkness. Ha ha ha

I really like Ei, She really acts like a god would in my opinion. Like a god can be a god without goodness, or love, and you can definitely feel it. It's through interaction with her people that she comes to the realization that there's a value somewhere here. In terms of accountability it's gonna sound strange even radical, but in real life nobody would question the actions of a living god except if it took the blame on its own. Zhongli admit his wrong, but Ei sees this like a god would "nothing of value was lost" her ideals were Eternity, and Humans are the exact opposite so in that sense she shouldn't care. now that's she's changed she can only come to quietly regret her actions as something of Value was indeed lost. To me in Genshin, the gods are way too human, they mingle way too much with them, at the point where people find it normal to treat a god like a another human (like stealing their Gnosis and stuff). Godhood in itself is another species that is superior, they shouldn't have to bow down to the humans, it's a choice they make. And when Makoto died, Ei did her choice and it was to not bow.

I REALLY LIKE THIS VIDEO!!! i definitely understand and appreciate hu tao so much more and there's really little to no other videos that go in such depth about her character. 💚❤️

The Harbingers kinda have thay Batman villain levels of charm to them.

I’m gonna be honest. The “inazuma counter” was unnecessary, it being in the corner without disappearing even if the word inazuma wasn’t spoke in said in a long time got distracting and that “ding” got annoying and made me pay focus to something I wouldn’t have notice if it wasn’t for it, which is the number of times the word “inazuma” was said. Which it wasn’t even that many, 37 wasn’t that much for a almost 25 min video of a specific topic of the game where that word would make sense be frequently used.

Is it ok If I like both Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail?

It frustrates me to no end that Ei and wanderer will never have another interaction again. Sure it would be possible for these two to meet but she wouldn't remember him and it wouldn't be the same.

17:35 i think the tsaritsa has potential to not actually be super duper evil ? she’ll definitely still be an antagonist like raiden or the knave but it’s hinted that she’s the archon of love and all the bad shit she does is because of that love. ofc that doesn’t make her actions okay but she’s not being evil for the sake of being evil i think. hoyo could also take the cowards route and say “oh pierro or whoever was actually toying with her this whole time and she’s not responsible at all !!!!” but i doubt they’d actually do that

its been a year but since hu tao is my favourite character it annoys me sm thatwe learn so little about i believe that there's sm more to her than we know she seems so interesting to me but still we learn nothing. Even her story quest was more about some npc, i think his name was meng, than her herself. I do believe hoyo has improved with writing tho

It’s honestly sad that signora’s entire backstory is hidden behind artifact descriptions or domains, therefore being unknown to Aether or Lumine. It’s a good story, but not known or fleshed out. Because if you know the lore… it makes that venti kick seem a whole lot more justified……

As a Yanfei main, i hate how she's such an easily overlooked character 😭😭

I left Genshin Impact because of the fan service and the lack of male characters. Not even a single male child character and most of the playable characters are just females.

I think also, scaramouche was a also a test subject for Dottore, i dont remember i saw it, i think it was in an archon quest,

I think Arlecchino is trying her best for herself and the children's safety. Tho all based on some assumptions- 1. I'm not sure whether House of Hearth is independent or belongs to Fatui. Major possibility is that it's a fatui organization. That means fatui/harbingers could send someone possibly worse than Arlecchino as in-charge.(Children don't deserve Crucabena and Dottore) 2. She can't actively go against harbingers with the criminal record she already has, or they might come after her and the children. So playing the role of "Knave" and "Father" to show that the orphanage is working for harbingers and won't go against them.(She's only 4th harbinger, not favorable for her. But still she'd betray them if necessary) 3. Since she just can't actively oppose fatui harbingers; she lowkey does it by letting children go against her, not punishing them and giving them freedom to choose "fate". She prepared "bottled flames" and also negotiated with Neuvillette for the exiled children to live in Fontaine.(She's a cold, unfeeling father for a reason, prolly to say goodbyes too) 4. Missions might have 2 purpose- a) to keep the front as fatui organization while gathering all useful info. b) for children to gain strength, knowledge and experience they might need in future. 5. Most of the children are orphaned and/or abandoned. They might not survive for long outside, so bringing them in shows the orphanage is still working. She doesn't want them to fall into the hands of disgusting people (including Dottore). As long as they survive in the orphanage, they can navigate through what their future holds. All these are calculated guess. Tho that all I can say. Assassinations, espionage and manipulation are necessary evil for them to survive in their circumstances. She also didn't clear the rumours likely for children's safety and orphanage's image. Arlecchino is a gray person with necessary evil. Her role of "father" is also seems like a tribute to her "family" she lost in bloodshed. I love her for that.

this genuinely helped me view him in a different light, as someone who hated scaramouche and wanderer from day one. i loved this analysis and even though he isnt even nearly a fave character to me, his lore is certainly up there!

If they want Dotorre to be playable at this point kt will probably have to be along the lines of a much younger segment who takes issue with what theyve done. Like, the Dotorre who made the deal with Nahida is currently the only one left and there has to be a reason for including the segments at all, they cluld just as easily have done the trick with making us think he was leaving Sumeru with an illusion or something, theres got to be a reason for such a complicated idea being implimented at all, and consequences to their loss...like maybe him trying to make more since nothing is stopping him from just replacing the loss, only to discover it isnt working the same as before for some reason he didnt anticipate (but Nahida likely did) and that leads to a version of Dotorre who thinks differently from the ones whove been on the same wavelength as all the others to the point that theyre functionally 1 person with different bodies instead of snapshots of different periods of his life suddenly existing in this period where hes a Harbinger doung insane experiments all over the world. Its a stretch i know, but SOMETHING needs to come out of the whole segment idea, and a playable Dotorre (or, Zandik, i guess?) Who opposes his own other self but who the rest of the world has...extremely complicated feelings about at the very best, would be an interesting way to go about it, especially with identity being kind of a big topic for Hoyoverse in general and among the Harbingers specifically. And, as i said, the only way to feasibly make a playable Dotorre is to not even try to redeem the one we currently know, hes way too far gone and unforgivable.

About Ei not remebering Scaramouche: I don't think he's been forgotten by her as when he tried to delete himself from Irminsul, the focus was on all the moments when he was named i.e. Kabukimono (his time in Tatarasuna), Kunikuzushi (when he brought down the Raiden Gakaden) and Balladeer (his Fatui years). Ei never gave him a name so his origin should still be intact because getting rid of that would have meant that pre-Vision Wanderer would not have known of his own origins from waking up in Shakkei Pavillion and then wandering. His quote before regaining his memories: "I've lived with a void in my chest my whole life. My creator didn't need me, and ever since I awoke, I've just drifted from one place to the next." I guess this isn't concrete evidence or anything, but I do think that the distinction between when he had a name and when he lacked one is pretty important.

we actually have dottore's backstory; he's from sumeru from years ago too. and god he has been disgusting and selfish since the start. you can go to "my name for now" he's made a video on the scattered lore of the doctor.

I love Xiao's sincerity so much, I thought he was edgy and kinda mean at first due to the way he interacts with others, but as I went into the game I slowly learned that he actually is just the softest, kindest and most determined character ever, on top of being absolutely adorable. I see him more as a sweet person trapped inside a tough shell, hardened over centuries and milleniums that he can't escape from. I love him to pieces, and I nearly cried during the chasm quest, since I genuinely thought he was about to pass out. Poor baby 😢

I'd like a 2nd Wanderer video if he ever gets another major story development. His birthday cards (if canon), the Interdarshan Championship, lines about him and Sethos - it all makes it seem like he's coming out of his shell more. And I can't wait to see how he is in the summer event next patch.

She's not a bad character, but at the same time I don't like her. Many of her decisions and actions were due to her selfishness, born from the emotional trauma of losing Makoto, I know, but, that does not justify all the things that her selfishness brought about

I LOV HIM MADLY truely all i need is his "scaramouche harbinger " skin bc i love his "evil" era hesthe character that i relate to the most anyone who lived through abandonment trauma would understand why scara is who he is , but between us i call him baby boy .

(from the genshin webcomic) that doesn’t make him redeemable of course, i just see a lot of people assuming dottore directly messed with collei, even though that’s not stated anywhere

I’m a lore enjoyer and it sucks seeing so much female (and sometimes male) characters down graded into nothing by hoyoverse or the fandom as a female myself 😞 but I guess you can’t expect much from a Gacha game.

i dont get how u can clearly say "arl works with dottore" and then you go along and say shes not "that" mean?? after all that you've said about dottore? i dont get how someone who works with a psychopath for any reason can be anything but evil. and also involving children with her dangerous missions is also fucked up. i wouldnt put her anything above pure evil just because shes loyal or compassionate. shes only loyal because she works for the tsaritsa and the children help her dug up information no matter how dangerous the mission is. just like wanderer said "a wolf in sheep's clothing"
