Big Chief Alfred Doucette - "Hey Pocky Way" LIVE at the Dew Drop Inn (New Orleans)
In March 2024, DC PauL hosted the return of his Open Mic Night/Wednesday Night Jam Session at the famous Dew Drop Inn in New Orleans.
A surprise guest was in the crowd, the legendary Big Chief Alfred Doucette - Big Chief of the Flaming Arrow Warriors and recording artist. A born and bred New Orleanian, Big Chief Doucette is an elder in the community and a leading culture bearer of the City of New Orleans at 83 years old. In this clip, he performs "Hey Pocky Way" composed by Leo Nocentelli, George Porter, Joseph Modeliste & Arthur Neville.
The Dew Drop Inn reopened in 2024 after remaining shuttered since Hurricane Katrina (2005). The revived Dew Drop Inn pays homage to the legendary acts who performed and stayed there by bringing back live music to Uptown New Orleans' 11th Ward. During its heyday, famous acts such as Little Richard, James Brown, Irma Thomas, Deacon John, and more performed at the Dew Drop.
"The Drop Inn Jam Session", New Orleans' Premiere Open Mic Night, is hosted every Wednesday night by DC PauL ("The Millennial Arsenio") - you never know who will be in the audience and sign-up to perform with the house band, The DOPEFrIENDS.

A legendary performance featuring three outstanding musicians: pianist Moses G. Hogan (1957-2003) and sopranos Dr. Valerie Anne Jones-Francis and Bridget Bazile - performed this arrangement of "Oh Holy Night" as the finale of their concert in 1993. This performance was in the Lawless Memorial Chapel on the campus of Dillard University in New Orleans.
