Looks like a very fun game, but the complete lack of control of your character in combat, takes away any will to play it.

I'm an absolute sap for ships that are just turret porcupines. That send shots blazing out in every direction. And that looks as mean as they fight. A good proper battleship.

I think you completely missunderstood what TAA means. TAA does nothing "only temporarily". The temporal means that it uses multiple frames for the anti aliasing and thus delivering a temporally stable edge smoothing. At the cost of blurring the image during movement, which is common to most fast anti aliasing solutions in differenct degrees.

Are you saving the water capture tech for your own base? It was researched much earlier and might have collected some by now for help in Rum production.

@52:58 "You killed them" - " I did nothing" When the houskeeping was flashing earlier in the vod indicating an attack, doing nothing is what got them killed. Its the high lord and his grp that are doing it.

You can establish a base, Mr. Collings, you can hire mercenaries to protect your outpost, and as long as you pay the taxes, the United Cities will not attack you.

Anker Soundcore P30i are $30 at Amazon, and sound better. If you don't care about ANC, I bought a pair of Xiaomi Redmi Buds 4 (refurb) for $15.73 to use with my steamdeck, and they sound as good as Raycons. In the same Amazon order, I bought a pair of Soundcore Liberty 4 NC earbuds for $63.99, and they sound MUCH better than Raycons. People, please buy products, not brand names. Especially not trash brand names that only exist because they spend a ton of money on marketing.

Glad this game is getting attention. I don't have nearly as many hours as a lot of you probably do, but I've enjoyed it a lot. Definitely something special. They are working on a Kenshi 2 with more modern graphics, though we haven't heard from them lately.

Thanks for the detailed review and especially for the X4 references. I am seriously considering Virpil exclusively for X4 but still wavering between dual-stick and stick/throttle. In X3 I was able to get into and use every single menu with Stick/Throttle (X52 Pro) but X4 has the map/management almost locked to needing Keyboard/Mouse. I saw you get back onto keyboard at one point in the review - can you suggest how much of that can reasonably be taken over by either Dual Stick/Throttle? Or is there just too much in X4 that keyboard/mouse will still be a necessity and I'll have to judge whether Throttle might just be better if I have to get to Keyboard/Mouse anyway as well as spacing for both Virpil and Keyboard Mouse? Thanks

I wish some of the Borom ships could have been designed wide, and not just long. Having one be akin to a Manta Ray, or a Sea Horse, or even a Shark with fins, would have been amazing.

I came here looking for a fix and walked away with a explanation that made me appreciate the game a bit more. I'm okay with a jumpy map as long as my combat is smooth and fluid.

Can you please move yourself (webcam) from the bottom left to the bottom middle? There is a lot of unused space and this way we could see more stats.

can the omni one be used as trottle control?

I’m very glad the TAA works so effectively, I have kept most the new graphics settings such as better reflections and high quality glow just because of that. Definitely the occasional blurry spot but it’s not noticeable compared to gaining 40fps and a bunch of graphical fidelity.

EVERYTHING in this game is "What does that even mean" Absolutely everything has to be figured out by watching CZcams videos. Its the worst part of this game.

Whenever a character on jobs gets hungry they will go to the food barrel automatically.

You can get s tier analysis visor upgrades that boost flora, fauna and mineral analysis rewards AND ADD A SCAN RADIUS BONUS

Happy to see you enjoying Kenshi. Even after more than 2k hours in the game, you'll still want to go back and play again, perhaps making up a challenge for yourself to make the game even harder than it already is, like using a solo character to conquer the entire map, and making your own stories. It's truly a masterpiece.

You're right about the beginners thing. This was my first time playing. After the first few _basic_ tutorials it AUTOMATICALLY dumped me into timelines, as if this was the tutorial progression, skipping about 80% of the actual tutorials, and I just starting getting my butt handed to me in those annoying timelines missions. The only reason I didn't refund the game, DLC and all, was I found someone who'd posted their user file, and I was able to edit my save from that to unlock all the DLC content and start playing in the sandbox, skipping those stupid missions.

Good idea to keep Hobbs around for some tales of legends. He's a unique character with special dialogue which usually is triggered by entering new biomes or entering bars.
