Diawa always seem tempting but you know you are going to love and depend on a Shimano, years after the Diawa goes in the bin. I use Shimano, my mate uses Daiwa (used to be on Shimano). We are both open minded and happy with our choices. I look at his reels with interest, he looks at mine with envy. We both agree that Merc are cool and beemar are for idiots.😂

under $100, Daiwa is the better reel, at least for spinning reels.

You guys in Lithuania have alot of similar fish as in north America . I visited family in Lithuania last year and had a chance to fish with my cousins . We caught bream or what we call in America sheeps head or fresh water drum. My cousin took me to some tackle shops in Vilnius so i could see whats similar and whats different. One tackle shop owner talked with me for over an hour, and i was talking about our fishing in new york state.

My take has been daiwa reels are more for taking a physical beating and used as a workhorse where you pick your set up and let the rig you chose do the work. Shimano are more for finesse especially with live bait where you're actions with the rod and how fast or slow your retrieval speed is does the work. That being said its about the individual choices and fishing styles that one being better than the other both are good just for different things. You don't corner a track in a luxury suv and you don't go off roading in a luxury sports car. As for quality it's like anything today some happen to be made on a Friday or Monday when production quality suffers compared to the rest of the week you can get a bad one of anything anymore. Also for U.S. based purchasers a big selling point is mid and lower mid end daiwas are China made Shimanos are Malaysia made except for the low end $50 and unders those are also china and high end doesn't matter as those are all Japan made for both companies as I understand it.
