The only stoppages I've seen from 1911s were from limp wristing them which results in easily cleared stovepipes. Limp wristing usually occurs when shooting one handed for things like bullseye competition. I've put thousands of rounds through 1911s both .45acp and 9mm two handed without a problem. You can limp wrist a Sig p229 all day without a stoppage, the same with a Beretta 92. But two handed there shouldn't be a problem with a 1911.

But, did this one malfunction ? I've had a Glock 17 malfunction. Front sight flew off at range during firing. Another occasion , afterwards the front sight shot loose and was wobbling. I thought it was my eyesight. The last thing that happened was I was loading my Glock magazine, as I was nearing full capacity, the bottom of the floor plate flew off to the bottom of the floor, and my rounds dropped to the floor as well . Glock perfection, yeah right. Give me a Beretta 92/Taurus PT99 or a 1911 ( Colt, Springfield, S&W, Tisas,Taurus, MR/DE, DW,RIA, Girsan,etc ) . Show me a gun brand that has a perfect history.

If you are prone to limp wristing you will get stovepipes. Other than that, 1911s run as well as anything else.

If the gel block moves after impact, it will affect penetration (i.e. conservation of momentum). Use some packing tape toward the front and middle of the block. It doesn't need to be too tight that it compresses the block, just enough to keep it from flipping up and moving backward.

Good luck today (2024) finding those extended 14 rd. Magazines. Fantastic presentation. I love my 229 Elite. CD in New SigHampshire. ps- Actually the price is very reasonable given the superb quality. Sad that Sig doesn't feel the same way having discontinued the 14 mags.

How to break a Sig P2xx ? Don't read the manual and don't adhere to Sig's recommended maintanence schedule for spring replacement per round count. And clean and lubricate the gun , just don't forget about it after dirt and water enter it. Classic metal Sigs are a beautiful thing.

Recently purchased fnx 9mm. I like high quality guns like this one handles great shoots great. I also have same gun in .45acp love it too. I might prefer glock 19 to fnx9mm but i definitely prefer fnx .45 to glock 21

I never thought of the safety as a safety, i just look at it as a decocker. No need for it in DA mode, ideal for carry. Draw and shoot. I've been carrying a Bersa Thunder for a year now. I bought it for my wife to use at home. I realized she'd be better off with a striker gun because of less steps. I ended up loving the little thing and it became my daily. I'd like to get the Plus model with double stack mags. If i never do im happy with the standard.

I went with the K grip on a pistol truck gun. Perfect. Added a BTR brace. It’s all good.
