The stupid here are the people saying Wuthering Heights is a love story. Please read the book. It is not love, it is obsession, passion and revenge. Cathy and Heathcliff are tied to their landscape, which is the main reason Cathy can't live well at Thrushcross Grange, it is not wild or earthy enough. She may be Heathcliff, soul mates, but she is also the Heights; just as much as Edgar is Thrushcross Grange; all order and calm. If you read the book, you will find Emily Bronte has the ability to have you liking every character, feeling sorry for every character, and loathing every character. Each of them have redeeming aspects of their characters, even Heathcliff. The only person who you never really feel sorry for, or can like very much is Cathy. She is a spoilt brat, who grows up to be a shallow, selfish, narcissistic bitch. If you don't agree, then you have to either read the book for the first time, or re-read it to get a better reading of it.
