This was a great day of rock hunting despite the freezing water! I'm stoked with how well some of them cut. This was in Canterbury, New Zealand. Awesome agate hunt in a New Zealand river - and I cut the rocks at the end! [Hinds river, NZ]
zhlédnutí 8KPřed rokem
I headed down to one of the smaller rivers in Canterbury to look for some agates, petrified wood, and other gemstones. This river hasn't had much rain and there have been a large number of people looking for rocks in it so I was hoping I was lucky enough to find something! My most beautiful agate yet - rockhounding in New Zealand (cutting video)
zhlédnutí 5KPřed rokem
I recently joined our local rockhound club for a club outing in the mountains of Canterbury. It was a great day out, I didn't take any footage of the hunt itself as I didn't want to distract anyone, but here is the cutting of the agates I found on the day. Agate / crystal hunt in a New Zealand river - plus I cut some of the finds
zhlédnutí 9KPřed rokem
I headed down to one of the Canterbury rivers to have a look around for any agates, I didn't spend much time there but managed to find a couple worth taking home. It was a new section of river that I hadn't explored yet, so you never know what you are going to find! Large, underwater agate from a cold river - rockhounding in Canterbury, New Zealand
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 2 lety
I headed down to one of the agate rich rivers here in New Zealand to see if recent rains had exposed any new treasures. I wasn't disappointed! Even thought I was only there for 2 hours, I managed to find some really good agates and other bits! I'll be cutting these rocks in the coming week or two, so keep an eye out for that video! Do you go barefoot, or where gumboots when walking through the water? I wear gumboots, but wonder if I’m the only one lol
I know where there are agates the size of footballs i will send u the directions
Why do u cut every rock
What mineral is the toffee stone
That green thing is might be a sign of some copper mine or a pic coming from a place that got copper, and that jasper is the sea jasper, usually got that pattern on it, if I am not wrong
Ohhh, wunderschön! 🫠
Very nice super beautiful ❤❤❤❤
Try Lee's valley before 2nd bridge on left hand side. There is a lot of green stone there just over the edge of the road.
You feel pain after💀

Yo! So cool to see New Zealand rocks. I'm a Kiwi living on Gold Coast now and I love seeing my homeland. I enjoyed the walk along the river. Really cool to see your finds. Popping over to your fossil channel too. I love science and history. That's a huge crab. It looks really cool. 🦖
Love rock hounding myself 👍Thank you 😃
Love the rocks. The posting of the cutting time is great. Thank you.
Fun to see you Rockhounding. Usually you are hauling a walrus sized rock up a cliff face. I’m glad you take a break, now and then. The cutting was icing on the cake. Thank you.
Nice to see you out and finding different things 😁
I found a piece on the California Beach near Santa Barbara. Reddish on one side and opaque white on the other
Nice one
Why do u cut all ur rocks
The other day I found a rock. I took it home and cut it open and to my suprise there was more rock inside.
Fun to see you Rockhounding. I wonder if you kept the really big speckled one? Both you and Marlains Atkinson have the cleanest hands on videos! Thanks.
During childhood times, we used to found this type of stones and others crystals when we went to rivers, but we never care about it as we thought it is as just some worthless natural marble or crystal. Sometime we picked it up but just to threw it away again or to lose it. What are they? Is they worth anything? We usually found it in river bed, among gravels.
Most of these would look amazing polished
I like the one at 4:30
I would walk past those everytime if I didn't know to look for them, and even then can't imagine they are that easy to spot amongst the pebbles
Bless! I love rock cutting videos! Your video was lovely and clear and concise, forgive me but I would like to make a suggestion, when you do the final reveal, we would like to see what the rock looks like polished, not dull. So if you could clean them and wet them before you show them, they would really show the true colours of the rock!
so cool!! love the waterlines
WOW, I've got some of these, now I'm going to have to cut them!. I wonder if you cut them really thin if they have any parallax banding in them?
The agates are so unusual. I like your presentation of the cutting process. Thank you for a most enjoyable video!
Awesome agates! I also collect some from time to time at the river rhine or with luck at the baltic sea, some are great but yours had some great textures!
Nice!! I didn't realise there were agates there as well!
@@mamlamborocks Yeah, got a few to many as well, they look interesting as they come in nice paterns! Could possibly show you some examples!
I love this stone - it's so pretty
Awesome I picked up some stones last week that I thought were black jasper - I didn't realise we had black agates, can't wait to get a new blade and start cutting now - thank you
Nice! I've only found one or two of these myself
@@mamlamborocks honestly I've only been collecting for a couple of years and I picked these up because they were "shiny" lol but thanks to you i'm glad I did - all the best with your club!!!
Used to come here with adear friend Kayla Russell, when we were younger. Her parents had a bach there. (Her stepdad would tumble stones too)Loved sitting there looking at all the pretty stones
At 5:10 I'd be picking up the green one! :-)
Where do I buy a saw looks so fun cutting
I thought that I had a voice in a quiet spot and shortly after 12:08 there is the voice of a young girl saying (Dad look what I found) A little strange. Lots of beautiful rocks in that river and beautiful snow on the mountains. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.
Lol 💦I could say so much about that rock but nope 🤐
👏😎
👏😎
What fun! Probably no way to know, but as I watched I was wondering how much time passed as layer after layer was formed.
So nice! Where is this?? 🤩
Nice finds, don't know how I missed this video.
Tool could be a leather punch
I had no idea NZ had such variety. Here in Oregon we have a ridiculous amount of chalcedony varieties. Great vid man, subscribed and look forward to your next adventure
Holy heck these are beautiful stones, may I enquire as to where abouts the river is that you're standing in? Regards 🙏🏼
What are the laws about collection rocks from the beach etc in New Zealand?
It is nice when you show the cut versions like on some of your other videos! We like to see what is inside!
The agates are amazing! Do you ever find geodes?
petrified wood
Need some more episodes. Gemstone beach Southland?
Any spots in Northland for rock hounding ?
Went to birdlings flat today with the whanau and I accidentally filled a bucket with things hahha they were weighing down my pocket first time tumbling stones so I hope I found some goodies
Any spots in Northland to have a look?
