F100 Cab Corners, 1966 F100 Build Part 16
With the bed off the truck to do the axle swap and c notch it was a great time to replace some rust! Unfortunately the truck I decided to build was from a beach town so the sand and years of salt air did a number on the old cab. Originally I did not want to go into a lot of sheet metal work and stick with a simple build. But the more time I spend with the truck the more I want to go ahead and build it right. So here we go, replacing rust and prepping the cab and bed for paint so I have a decent truck when its all said and done!

Garage Lighting Upgrade
zhlédnutí 538Před 2 lety
Taking a quick break from building the F100 to upgrade the LED lighting in my garage. After only 2 years my first set of lights were starting to fail. Thankfully the Amazon seller did follow through with there 3 year warranty. So I was able to get my money back for the lights that failed. Rather then simply replacing the light I decided to upgrade to add even more light to my garage. I am still...
First Drive - F100 Build Part 15
zhlédnutí 893Před 2 lety
Is time for the first drive! Wrapping up the 5 speed swap on the 1966 F100 project truck. Taking the truck from a three speed and completing a T5 swap. The T5 behind the 300CI 4.9L straight six should made for a great driving truck! So we will work to cross off the last few items including breaks, driveshaft, and fluids. Thanks for checking out the video and make sure to head over to the websit...
F100 Axle Swap, Part 14
zhlédnutí 12KPřed 2 lety
Huge progress on the 1966 F100 build! In order to match the crown vic front suspension swap I decided to swap the rear axle on the truck. The factory Ford 9" axle would be grate with disc brakes, new diff, and correct bolt patter. If you add up the cost of building the stock axle it makes way more since to just use the crown vic axle. So in this episode I pull the 9" out, complete the axle flip...
Hidden Trailer Hitch, Project F100 Part 13
zhlédnutí 2,9KPřed 2 lety
I plan on using my 1966 F100 as a truck! That means using it to tow my boat and trailers around. But rather then using a bumper mount hitch or a off the shelf receiver I decided a custom solution would be a better option. A hidden hitch behind the plate will keep the truck looking clean and more or less stock from the outside. But the 2" receiver will be easy to assess with a flip up plate hold...
Project F100- Frame C Notch - Part 12
zhlédnutí 3,4KPřed 2 lety
Its time to pull the bed of the truck and do some fabrication! With our 1966 F100 build we are going lower. So the bed is pulled from the frame to complete a custom C notch. This new C notch will allow the truck to be lowered significantly more! Along with the C Notch a new axle will get installed and flipped. Meaning the axle will now live on top of the leaf springs rather than below them. Thi...
Trash Transmission, F100 Build Part 11

While building the F100 I ran into a huge set back! The transmission I was holding onto for this truck turned out to trash! So it was time to hut the drawing board again and come up with a game plan. In the end I found another 5 speed transmission, T5 that needed only a small amount if work. This one ended up looking great and solved my issues! If you want to see more of the build head over to ...
Project F100 Rust Repair - Part 10

The cab of the 1966 F100 was trash. If I am being honest it may not have been worth saving. But I may be doing some modifications to the truck later down the road that will decrease the trucks value so I wanted to start with a rough truck. No since messing up a clean truck just for fun! The worst of the rust is the drip rail on the cab. So in this episode I dive into the rust and fix some spott...
Fake Patina Paint? F100 Build Part 9
zhlédnutí 3,6KPřed 2 lety
How do you create a cool paint job on a truck with awful bodywork? You just remove it all! I am a big fan of patina on old cars, but I am not much of a fun of fake patina. With the paint on the truck looking more or less awful I figured I would give fake patina a try. I am pretty happy with the outcome! Way better then it was when it was solid blue! Keep up to date on the build by following alo...

Save The Patina! - F100 Project Part 7)

Adding some pop under the hood of the 1966 F100 project truck. An easy way to spruce up the motor is to add valve covers. With limited availability of good looking valve covers for the ford 4.9L straight six I decided to keep the stock one. Thankfully the valve cover already had a great patina. So with a quick scuff and spray we will save the look of the patina as well as make the colors pop. A...

Time to make everything under the hood shine on the 1966 F100! Yes this was the one part of the build I was most excited about. Giving the 300ci inline six a great place to live! Not everyone keeps the straight six motors in there project trucks. Its easy to upgrade to a V8 for more power and that great V8 sound. But I am not one to follow the normal path. So I was excited to find that this tru...

Can someone tell me why does it have to be completely welded in ? Why can’t you just spot weld most of it and then grind back make it flush and then put bondo over it?

    • @Petrol360

If you want it to look nice like it was original you need to but weld the whole seam. If this was under the truck I might overlap the panels. I will still fully weld them out rather then spot weld for strength. Then seam seal to keep moisture out of your repair.

I have a new 38351 Fitech system. The newest interface handheld works flawlessly. I agree that Fitech needs to put out a manual that spells out what each software tuning line item does! Bryan at Fitech has great basic video's, but that's where it ends.

Very well done. My complements! I must say I and apparently many others did have that same thought - filing cabinet prices just went UP. Ah well...While walking the dog last week, just down the strett someone put out a Hon four door upright filing cabinet for letter size papers with a FREE sign on it. It is waiting for me to sand it and paint it. I, too, am going to use rustoleum white paint. This is for our business office. Anyhow, I am going to start looking for your style cabinet for my garage becuase I need to clean it up out there. Thank you for the video.

I just stumbled on this video and the timing couldn't be better. I recently moved, at my old house I used an old IKEA dresser as my work bench with tool storage. It was a great way to store tools and it attached two 3/4 plywood to the top as the work table. However like many things that are IKEA, it lasted about 10 years from some serious abuse and wasn't up to be moved when we moved houses. So I tossed it, which I was sad to do because it did make a great work bench. However at my new house, the previous owner installed two work benches and they are solid. However they are only benches without any storage. So I have been looking at getting a cheap dresser for my tool storage. I couldn't find anything decent used for below $100 and below that it was just pure garbage. I didn't consider using file cabinets but I just looked on Marketplace and there are several of the same exact ones for $50 and I found one thats 2x2 with a work top for $100. So I think I know which way I'm going. Thank you for the idea.

The factory sealer on these trucks is terrible and cracks over time. The roof seam will let in water behind the drip rail. The low spot welds where the roof goes over the drip rail will hold water and the rust starts from there. If anyone is restoring one of these I recommend putting body filler in the lows and maybe slope it from the center. One tip is never grind down your welds completely, you can make the flat metal on the sides of your weld too thin. Just grind it halfway and beat it in slightly and bondo over it. You can also lap weld the new sheet metal over the old as long as it’s where the water runs down over the lap and you cut the old rust out.

Why would you use a Crown Vic rear end and not an explorer rear? I hope you either modified the perches for the skinny axle tubes. Are you going to narrow it? The track width has to be way too wide because the explorer unit is perfect for my 69 f100

Paint looks fantastic. I bought a couple almost 20 years ago for $50/piece. I painted them red with black drawers like my Craftsman 42" bottom box. These bookend each side of my 42" box for a work bench and looked amazingly professional. I love the top slideout drawers. I made slider trays 1/2 the drawer width for all the rest. Store bigger stuff underneath the tray. It's unbelievable how much you can pack in these cabinets.

Glad to see someone else welding the load path members into those bumper brackets lol. Have you pulled anything with it yet, and if so, how much weight? I was about to do the same thing because I have a 70s mustang gas tank that stops a few inches shy of the frame members and there is limited room. I was planning to triangulate some secondary tubes to take the tongue load but I was going to drop the receiver under the bumper. My 72 F100 sits at normal ride height and I don't need to punch a hole in the bumper, but I really like the idea of hiding it behind the plate so I think I am going to do it. Glad I saw this video. Nice job!
