Essex Steam Train and Riverboat - New Haven 3025
While traveling through the Northeastern US on a roller coaster trip, I set aside time to stop in Essex, CT to check out the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat, located in Essex, CT. The railroad runs 3 excursions during peak season at 11AM, 12:30PM and 2PM. On August 5, 2024, I chased the railroad's 11AM and 12:30PM runs, which were both handled by 2-8-2 Mikado #3025. 3025 is a Chinese-built locomotive that was shipped to the United States. The Valley Railroad acquired the locomotive in 2008 and put it into service in 2011. 3025 is coming due for its 1,472-day inspection, so I'm glad I was able to see it before it goes out of service. While waiting on M205 with a heritage/spirit duo, CSX M351 made an appearance Southbound through Wyoming, OH with a YN2 leader! This particular YN2 was different, as it was CSX 454 Spirit of Magnolia.
