I enjoy most things outdoors, and the advancement in technology that allows us to so well capture our experiences. This channel allows me to share these experiences. Most content will be bike related, but there will be other goodies along the way. Enjoy the ride!
Top Notch Triathlon '24
When I was a kid in the 90's, I remember going to see this race. I stood by the lake to mountain transition, and was captivated by the athletes as they made their way out of the water and up the mountain. I chose to take on this challenge as part of my 40th birthday(mid-life crisis). It was a great race that gave me a reason to train hard. For anyone thinking about doing it, here are the three thing I would have changed to be faster/more comfortable:
1. I chose my mountain bike over my gravel bike for comfort in the woods. I should have used the gravel bike to lower rolling resistance on the roads.
2. As a novice I would highly recommend hiking poles. The climb and decent destroyed my legs, and the poles would have taken some load off. They also would have given more confidence on the downhill to go faster in the loose rocks and wet grass.
3. More exercise of my quads. Every part of my body felt good after the race except for my quads. It took about 4 days for me to use stairs without leaning on the railing and groaning.

The Wheel Mill 2023

Spent Saturday night taking Landon to the Wheel Mill for the first time. He did great. We were there for 4.5 hrs. and logged over 10 miles on my Garmin. Needless to say we were fairly useless the next day. These sections are only some of what the park has to offer.

Sad we didn't get the skeleton in the cage that shakes around in a... suggestive way this year screaming "let me out!". I assume there's lots more to be set though, I hand-stacked probably 15-20 7 foot tall skids myself, ceiling high.
