How one event changed Star Wars’s timeline forever
Star Wars Legends and Star Wars Canon have some pretty distinctly different New Republic eras. But what's the ONE event that makes all of this possible?

I Found Star Wars's Most Obscure Alien
He deserves it...
Bad Ape from War for the planet of the apes is what Jar Jar Binks should've been
I headcanon operation cinder the origins to Dark Empire
I never hated his character it was kind of more of more indifference as I watch the prequels for the first time I never really truly knew about the fan dislike of his character and depressing information about his actor until like the mid to early 2010s as I got more into the online space
I have a feeling this comes from a desire to have the Good Guys associate with a faction with more nuance than an overly heroic and propagandistic faction like the Old Republic of the Clone Wars. As much as I loved a lot of the older Legends books, on retrospect it bothers me that a lot of the books endorsed the kind of Galactic Policing and foreign violence, like those reflected in real world proxy wars. I like that they've portrayed the New Republic as a more flawed government, much more akin to many real-world newly made democracies after years of dictatorial rule. There was a deleted scene in The Force Awakens where Leia and an agent of hers were frustrated that the New Republic was not committing enough to battle the First Order, and was being complacent and I while it is in the Novelization, it would have helped and added more weight to Starkiller Base destroying it. I'd like to see more of that. An exploration of the morally gray waters of the NR trying to move forward and demilitarize. I have a feeling that after Thrawn's death, they will become more isolationist, like how it was in The Force Awakens.
We all know that this is according to Darth Jar Jar's plan. He is raising a small loyal army, while his main empire is managed under Palpatine.
I still love jar jar!
Saving Mr binks:
That star wars legands, its not lore
No, it’s canon!
I liked him
Idc what people say the formation of the empire to the first order and palpatine being behind everything all along still with the cloning and snoke genius! Don’t get me wrong the sequels are garbage and last Jedi is a shit stain to the franchise and Rey a terrible character but besides that I think the actual plans palpatine had is interesting
Mr binks is an amazing name
The author of that novel is the worst Twitter poster on the entire website
People clown on jar jar but the clone wars would have ended VERY poorly without him
Imagine how a secret Sith Lord could influence a bunch of younglings….
But unfortunately he died a depressing death befitting the death we all hoped for.
He probably eventually died after finding his true, fulfilling calling
@@StarWarsCentralized He died like a clumsy idiot in a circus accident
Not only did I love JarJar as a kid, but my mom STILL loves JarJar. Because she first saw the prequels with me and my sister when we were really young. I will never tolerate JarJar slander.
A dream sequel wouldve been Darth Jar Jar. Making Palpatine come back was beyond lazy and the most trash writing in Star Wars i have ever seen.
I don't see how Darth Jar Jar would be better writing, or how Palpatine returning is "lazy." Nothing in the prequel trilogy we got indicated Jar Jar was set to be a Sith Lord.
Im telling you, hes coming back as a sith lord.
Lego already confirmed it as a what if story
Mesa a bad Jedi
A rebuild the galaxy or something show is coming to Disney+ is August and Darth Jar Jar and Jedi Bob were teased in it.
My favorite species is the dinosaur guy from Kenobi
Amazing choice. Reminds me of the Ssi-ruuk
WOW, this is the first video I have seen from you and I am completely astonished 😱
Thank you!!!
alien maquette 23 finally getting his spotlight, you love to see it! Great vid, very informative
Thanks so much!!!!!
Big fan!!!!
Yeah, it was when Lucas sold SW to Disney.
I am glad to see more people apreciating the sequels and the Last Jedi ❤
I love them all!!!
Fantastic video! I’m reading Bloodline right now, and it feels to me that the canon new republic is also trying to talk about the large political differences within the American government through the Centrists and Populists. These two groups seem to be very split with vastly different ideals, much like the right and left of the American political spectrum.
I only just found your channel, and it's amazing to find a channel that seemingly treats everything in Star Wars as...Equal. It's not "blah blah EU sucks" or "blah blah Sequels sucks". It's just talking about Star Wars. It's great! You've earned a subscriber. Star Wars as a fandom needs more positivity. Everything has warts. I'd like to celebrate the good things. I know there's pitfalls, missteps, and they should be called out. But. Not every single video has to be going on about why something sucks. ...Though I do still think the Aftermath books went too easy on Jar Jar Binks. That guy woulda been tried for essentially giving Palpatine his Reichstag decree.
Thank you so much!!! That’s really my goal with this channel, hence the name “Centralized”! So glad you like my videos so far
Hahaha the Jar Jar ending is a fun one… I’m actually going to make a short about it soon!
I'm curious what the Aurabesh is below, is it your dialogue?
It just says Star Wars Centralized :)
The Canon ends at the end of the 3rd Timothy Zahn book
3rd? Or 5th? Or 8th?? Or 11th??? He’s got a lot of good books
@@StarWarsCentralized Heir to the Empire trilogy.
Stephen A you still haven't told Kwame why you were at those colleges
Ya'll been smoking weed-duh
I'm not sure what's worse legends or canon but either way the period after episode 7 is terrible media.
Both Legends and Canon have some absolutely incredible stories in the post-Endor period
The problem with the new Disney Star Wars timeline is that compared to the legends material, it's just boring. As you mentioned the way the Empire fell in Disney lore happens far too quickly because even after the defeat at Endor, the empire was still the dominant military force in the galaxy with thousands of ships and worlds under their control. it just doesn't make sense that they would lose most of that on one year. This would be the equivalent of the US Navy which has around 700 - 800 ships and losing most of that in a year which won't happen. Look how long it took for the Roman Empire to fall, the real troubles started in the 370s AD and led to Rome being sacked in 390, 410, 455 and 472 AD. Even then the Empire went onto exist as the Byzantine empire until 1453. I get that Disney was paving the way for the first order and wanted to quickly make way for them by having the empire fall rapidly but they could have done it in a better way. Just think about all the great legends material that we lost such as the Rogue Squadron X-Wing books, Thrawn trilogy, Dark Empire Comics, Jedi Academy and also the New Jedi Order books, and also not to mention a lot of the characters that came along with them who are now confined to legends. I'm sure not everyone would agree and each to their own but honestly I just think the writing and the way Disney has handled the timeline has been lousy and incoherent. You only need to watch the sequel movies to know this and honestly, the sacrifice of the legends material certainly wasn't worth the garbage we got.
You make some good points, but I disagree with your fundamentals. I really don’t find it boring, especially not the lack of more Galactic Civil War post 5 ABY.
@@StarWarsCentralized Sure I respect your opinion and there are some stories which I was not a fan of, in particular Palpatine coming back as a clone, which Disney unfortunately also decided to go with. Even George Lucas himself said that the EU existed in a separate universe and was never intended as canon. I feel like the main problem with Disney's timeline is that there is little room for imagination which explains cancelled videogame projects like 1313, cancelled Darth Maul game, unlike with the EU timeline which saw a slew of video games especially in early to mid 2000s like the Rogue squadron games, Jedi Knight games and arguably two of the greatest Star wars games ever released Knights Of The Old Republic 1 and 2. You also have to take into account Disney's greed like for example releasing to many shows on their streaming channel which led to over saturation and lack of interest in the brand. They also increased licensing costs on video games companies to use the Star Wars licence from 20% to 33% which led to the cancellation of the EA mandalorian FPS game. Overall I don't mean to come off as negative and trust me, if I want to scratch the Star Wars itch I usually just play the old video games. Let's hope the upcoming Mandalorian film as well as Thrawn and New Jedi Order films end up being better that their sequel trilogy was. Thanks for responding and keep up the great work with your channel.
yeah it's called the Walt Disney Corporation
Imagine if they had planned just 6 months ahead after purchasing this $4000000000 franchise!
Its not an argument, Freddy Pring Jr. is a moron. George Lucas already talked about it too.
I think Operation Cinder makes sense to an extent: Palpatine had no plan for anyone else in power but himself. I bet Thrawn, like Gallius Rax and Gideon, will probably end up dead, and his army destroyed, to give the New Republic's illusions of peace. I don't think it should go on for 20 years again. It worked better in Legends, but in the new timeline it wouldn't line up well. I think the comics have been handling the tie-ins with the new films best. In the Darth Vader comics, it's found that Sidious had already been operating on Exegol decades before Episode 9, with prototypes of Snoke and his Praetorian Guards being made, and the Star Destroyer Fleet beginning construction. It's a great comic that ties in with the sequels while building Vader's arc before ROTJ. I'd like to see stuff like this. It feels natural and ties in with Cinder well, adding more stakes to the Emperor's defeat and the First Order's rise. I also think we should see more stories set closer to The Force Awakens, like the short story collection "Before the Awakening". Perhaps an animated series exploring the lives of Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren before Episode 7 could be the next big one.
I absolutely agree! I’m so eager to hear about how Exegol’s side of things ties into Palpatine’s machinations post Endor in canon
Yes! It's hinted also in a recent novel that those experiments began perhaps longer before that. I'd like perhaps an exploration of some of the sequel characters and plot elements during the Prequel Era....perhaps Anakin and Obi-Wan try to find Exegol, only to be forced to return to the war. It's implied Maz Kanata knew Anakin, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, and I have a feeling that Dooku and maybe Grievous knew at least somewhat about Palpatine's future plans, given they planned for the Death Star as well.
Two points against the criticisms of Operation Cinder’s “realism” 1) it’s based on the reality of the Nero Decree, where Hitler ordered the destruction of German infrastructure at the end of the war, nominally to prevent its use by the Allies, but in the view of many historians an act of vengeance on his part against the nation he felt had failed HIM 2)Palpatine doesn’t want something like what Thrawn tries to build or the Imperial Remnants under the Moff Council in Legends. The Empire only has value to him AT ALL to the degree to which it is an instrument of the Sith. Operation Cinder is meant to assure it is the Eternal Sith and the Final Order which will rebuild the Empire, not men like Thrawn (for example).
Love your second point! Very interesting to delineate the two ways the Empire could exist
I really dislike the canon portrayal of The New Republic as this weak lazy government that gets lazily swept under the rug in Episode 7 cause JJ Abrams is a bad writer. Like, I feel like they should have been the good guy's idealized government. It weakens the whole goal of the good guys and everything they've fought for. Making a new government inspired by the Republic of old, but without its flaws and corruption. Making something that works, like a happier ending. Instead of just THIS. It's lame, it's disappointing, and it also just feels like an excuse to justify JJ Abram's nonsense in Episode 7. Also, great video! Also I will always hate Lucas basing the rebels off the fucking Viet Cong and the Empire off America, but at least it's become its own thing since then.
"Cannon" lol😂
Excellent video
Thank you!!!!
Such an awesome video, and really does line up with our anxiety/hesitancy around how Thrawn will be adapted and handled, especially with how Filoni and Favreau are open to slightly retconning canon and not setting specific dates for their shows. The lack of Rae Sloane being mentioned also bites a bit, but hopefully Hux was simply appearing in her place to keep things as secretive as possible for the proto-First Order. Snoke and his attendants presumably also usurp Sloane at some point, but his injuries thanks to Luke also means he was in the main galaxy in some manner as well - does that mean he's got a chance of showing up at the end of the Mandoverse, or at least the first decade post-Endor? We have the feeling that Thrawn will ultimately not be supported by Palpatine and his eventual forces, but it could be a question of if Palpatine's happy to see what Thrawn can achieve, or if he intends to have his agents undermine him at a crucial point. And will Zahn get a chance to continue the Grysk storyline if Filoni is ultimately in charge of presumably ending Thrawn's story in canon? All questions we got, but happy to have your video to emphasize how effective and horrifying Operation Cinder really was for the official end of the Galactic Civil War!
Thank you so much!! I’m glad you liked it- and yes I share those same anxieties about future canon stories. Though I really do hope for this potential hinted Luke & Snoke story!
They talk about the light and dark side of the force in TESB, Luke asks “how will I know the good side from the bad?” They most definitely mention the light side in the OG trilogy.
Yes because following the will of the Force is good and the dark side is the bad twisting of it
Maybe that’s the problem. It is just the force, but the Jedi and sith are corrupting it into distinct variations. And the constant battles between the light and the dark, are a result of the force trying to fix itself. Back into its original state. The force
The Force is light. The darkness is the corruption of it
@@StarWarsCentralized yeah I know I was just doing a little theory. But in saying that do you think that anyone can in the middle without eventually turning to the dark?
I don’t really think so, but there are still some fascinating stories that can be told exploring the area and I hope for more!
this guy is gonna become the new eckharttsladder
Woah this is a big statement! I mean, I’d love that tho 😭
Finally! Someone who understands Star Wars is so vast and not thinking about the main story only!! I'm subscribing for sure
Thank you!!!!
Both are dogmatic and flawed ideologies regardless of canon. At the very core of it the moral integrity of the jedi was beyond compromised by accepting the clones unethically for war. Sure you have the grey jedi bs but you also have people smart enough to question the force itself.
The Jedi and Sith are both dogmatic. That does not make the Light a dogmatic ideology. The Light is true and good, and the dark side exists, but is not something anyone should use
Balance to the force means the destruction of the dark side because the dark side is a cancer and the light side is the force in balance
Exactly
