    @sergejkrynycky728 Před 24 dny

    Hello! Thanx for the video. :) I guess what still makes me confused is why I would do this side-chain technique if I can just put the envelope filter (or other device) in the beginning of the chain right after the input? I might be missing something. What’s the difference between doing that vs side-chaining?

    • @GaryWrightMusic
      @GaryWrightMusic Před 24 dny

      That's a good question. The benefits of using side-chaining in this scenario would be the flexibility to place the filter anywhere you wish within the signal chain. Placing something like this filter ahead of your amp block would very much color the signal, impacting it's overall sound and strength before reaching your amp/cab blocks. You also wouldn't have as much flexibility with the blending of that filtered sound vs di on the output of you placed it at the beginning of the signal chain. The thing to remember is side chaining isn't just used in these cases. If you watch my video I recently released on the doubler, there is another example of leveraging it via the side chain. That may clear up this concept a bit. Hopefully that helps!

    • @GaryWrightMusic
      @GaryWrightMusic Před 29 dny

      Hello! Switching to an entirely different preset is going to have the audio gap. A way around this would be to have your clean signal chain items on either row 2, 3-4 and toggle for that quick part. Switching presets will always have the audio gap, so you have to get creative with your scenes in order to overcome.

    Very new to the digital amp stuff. Just got a Quad Cortex. When I go into Logic Pro following the same steps it loads with an amp over my tone. It loads brit and clean with noise gate, pedalboard.amp, channel eq, and compressor in logic over my Quad Cortex tone. How do I load in with just my Quad Cortex audio?

    • @GaryWrightMusic
      @GaryWrightMusic Před měsícem

      It is more than likely because of selecting guitar for the input type and having a default box checked that loads a brit amp and cab sim to the channel track. This can be easily removed though. Open your new project, and click on the mixer faders icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Then look in the lower left corner for the channel strip and click the arrow next to the plugins section towards the top of that strip, then click on "no plug-in". This will remove the default vst and let you hear the QC input without further signal chain effects. I am traveling most of the day today, but give a shout if you are still having problems. I will gladly take a couple of screenshots when I get back home for you.

    • @GaryWrightMusic
      @GaryWrightMusic Před 2 měsíci

      Hey! I would take a look at your overall volume levels of your audio interface. Turning the knob to 100, puts you at gain unity, which is a universal measurement of level aimed to normalize audio. So if you are seeing output from the QC much louder compared to other devices / system volume, I would be checking your gain levels on the output of the QC and whatever other audio interface you might be using.

    Awesome video, subscribed as I am a newbie and looking for some pointers with this beast. Quick question, if I use the split function to split my signal one to go to my cab, one go to a FOH system. Can I setup a split to with lane 2 to have same signal except have the cab block off and have that split go to my cab through a separate output, say 3?

    • @GaryWrightMusic
      @GaryWrightMusic Před 2 měsíci

      Great to hear! It sounds like you would want a splitter for row 1, that has a cabsim on row 2 and output to FOH on row 1. You then want the signal to pass through from row 2 to row 3? I want to make sure I understand the signal chain path before I try to answer.

    Interesting video... the whole gain staging discussion is still something that I can't fully grasp and there are definitely conflicting forum posts about online. I have learnt, that a lot of advise online... stems from analogue gain staging practices... and don't always translate well to the digital realm, which this is. Here are the things that I have learnt: a) Volume knob on the QC unit - Set that to full volume or 80-90% if you want to have a small amount of adjustment and aren't a gigging musician. b) Input level gain - Actually, you probably want to leave that at 0 to emulate the fact that different guitars have different outputs and drive amps in different ways (in real world). I agree with your previous video and the fact you shoud be using your higher output guitar to set set the baseline. However, changing this everytime you swap a guitar... is like making the guitar into something it is not (there are no input levels on physical amps as far as I know). The only time you would perhaps want to do it, is if you suddenly need to play all your presets with an alternative guitar but want to have the original sound - and this is when the global adjustment would make sense. c) It would be really useful to know what was the input level gain (or more precisely db level they were hitting when strumming hard) of people who made captures and presets in Cortex Cloud.

    • @GaryWrightMusic
      @GaryWrightMusic Před 2 měsíci

      Agreed. It's definitely an involved process, but establishing a stable global I/O input setting goes a long way. That puts you in a position to worry more about setting output levels per preset. At least, you more than likely know what guitar choices you would be making to play. It does become more of a guessing game on cortex cloud though.
