I recently seen a post on FB marketplace when I was in the city. Luckily, it was still available. Watch me unbag it and see all the vintage skeins included. Some are from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and possibly older. This was a real treat for me!

Hi all, I know the sound on this video is not amazing, I was trying to talk quietly for a lot of it as my husband was sleeping. I have made sure all of my upcoming videos have decent sound. I have a bunch of partial skeins needing wound into a cake, using my new (to me) Daruma Home twister. Let's chat!

Washing out your cloth pads by Melissa's Makes
zhlĂ©dnutĂ 1,1KPƙed 10 lety
How to wash out your cloth pads to lengthen their life! :-) 1. remove from wetbag/ziploc bag 2. rinse out with cold water 3. squeeze out excess water 4. place in bucket/pail of water (also add in tablespoon of vinegar or borax) 5. wash on laundry (seperate load, with sheets, with regular laundry) 6. hang dry (do not use dryer, will harm the KAM snaps) 7. Enjoy them! :-)

    Hi Melissa, I have been enjoying your videos. I love to look for yarn at thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales and church rummage sales too. I used to hate Homespun yarn until I made a scrap afghan holding one strand of acrylic yarn along with it. It made it so easy to work with. My favorite nap afghan when it gets cold. I live near Rochester NY . 👋

      Thanks for the tip on the homespun! Will need to give that a try. Do you often check your thrift stores for yarn? :)

      @@heyhey_melissacrochets Yes all the time! During the summer I like to stop at garage sales to check for yarn too. Are you going to the Spinrite tent sale? Someday I hope to make it there.

      hello! thanks so much for your comment. I am enjoying youtube. I have a video in progress with a bunch of these yarns. Stay tuned! I love your tote series. As a teen, I had close to 40 totes of yarn, a lot stacked in my bedroom. I am not allowing myself to hoard the yarn this time around.

    • @heyhey_melissacrochets
      @heyhey_melissacrochets Pƙed 15 dny

      I don’t find it fuzzy at all - I don’t like fuzzy yarn, much - so I don’t buy anything with a “halo”

    I just stumbled across your channel today and enjoyed seeing the vintage yarns you found. 😊. I’ve never owned a yarn winder and I like the shape of the balls you made. What brand of winder do you have? It is really cool that you work for Coats & Clark. They make a lot of sewing notions too, right? Best of luck growing your channel! ❀-Brenda

    It's so funny...I have been cloth diapering for a year. Part of the whole idea of using cloth is to avoid harmful or harsh chemicals. MOST cloth diapering routine videos I have found use all sorts of products and methods that involve chemicals and nothing natural. After a year of trying multiple methods, diaper rashes and cash spent- I found the best method. It seems you have as well doll. 1st Wash: use cold water to wash out the bulk by hand. Then wet pail it with1/2 cup vinegar in 1 Gallon water till wash. 2nd wash: wash cold with a extra rinse cycle if desired. 3rd wash: Wash warm water with minimal soap and water ( I add 1 Tbps baking soda to amp the cleaning and odor. ). I will be making my own pads soon and appreciate your video and advice and cannot be happier that their is another lady out there who does it similar. I will try this method first. I also tumble dry low then air dry in a pinch. Normally air dry though. Thanks for the sage advice! ^^ More people should like this video!

    When I squeeze my pads after washing and drying them when still damp it sounds like there’s still detergent in them. How do you remove to detergent or know if they still do have detergent?

    • @heyhey_melissacrochets
      @heyhey_melissacrochets Pƙed 6 lety

      Good question. I usually squeeze and ring out until the water runs clear. If you are using a natural soap, it shouldn’t be extremely harmful.

    • @97AshleyRose
      @97AshleyRose Pƙed 6 lety

      Melissa Anne ok thanks I used all liquid detergent the water did run clear so maybe there’s no detergent left

    • @Lemonvr0323
      @Lemonvr0323 Pƙed 6 lety

      All liquid has a natural fabric softener in it called sodium coculate. It will reduce the absorption of your pads over time so be careful.

      kmf134 ok thanks I’ll definitely use a natural powdered detergent for my cloth pads

    • @97AshleyRose

      kmf134 do you know what detergent brands don’t contain that ingredient?
