A River Montage
Their beauty, ever-changing scenery, and sense of exploration are a few of the reasons I like rivers. Over the last few years the NAMRZ rivers and I have both struggled. They with a drought and I with a blood cancer, but now the drought is over and I have been rehabilitated leading to the joyous reunion you see here.

so too is this video when it comes to making any orderly sense. Shortnose gar, Lake Red Rock, Gymnopus dryophilus, and Robinia pseudoacacia are all involved without any clear reason why.
Oru Kayak Lake Maiden Voyage

Fly fishing for crappie in my new Oru Kayak, Lake. A little slower and more delicate than a rotomolded plastic kayak, but super light and portable at only 18 lbs. and it folds up so it doesn't need to be lifted onto a car top rack.

OG checking in on the Python reference. Edit. OK Iowa. Looked it up. That water all feeds into the Mississipi yeah? I have a bucket list dream of a trip up or down that river. Nice wetlands, good looking country. And... Respect your catch and release in this day and age, but; are those Gar native or introduced? and, are they good eating? Good video to watch. Greetings from Oz. 1 new sub for ya.
Thanks! Yes, Iowa is part of the Mississippi drainage. Some flooding along the big river right now. Gar are native fish and I believe they potentially can play an important role in controlling the numbers of invasive carp because they patrol the shallow water where carp spawn. They are not good to eat and somewhat dangerous to handle so most anglers here avoid catching them.
Really cool video!
Thanks!
@@ScrawnyLife welcome!
What type of fly are you using? When I’m out I stop at least in one spot loaded with gar. Looks fun so might give it a whirl
The fly is usually a piece of plastic tube from a cotton swab. I dress it with bucktail. The tippet goes through a bead (if I want any weight) then through the tube, and then ties onto a size 10 treble hook, usually with the barbs crushed down and also dressed with a pinch of bucktail.
Great fishing video! Looks like a lot of fun. Lots of truth in the opening statements too.
💕Wow💜💜💜💜💜🤍💜💜💜
Loved that cleat water 💧
3 inches! :( That's a lot!
Good try! lol @ 3 minutes
Nicely done and lots of good information. I too am concerned about the future of life, as we know it today.
What weight of rod did you catch that whopper of a carp on?
A bunch of really beautiful smallies, Mark!! Well done!
