I started framing, did it for ten years. My specialty is finish carpentry and architectural work, I agree with Matt find something you love and put all your effort into being the best in the business. I only do high end homes, the last one I did sold for 28 million dollars and I was on the job for eight months.

As a contractor, I've been incredibly grateful for shows like Brains. Educated clients are much easier to work with, and there is nothing wrong with standards being created between us on the frontine.

Funny I hear that I know ? My dad built homes and I watched ? Hey ! He built the one I am standing in now! But I am a finish carpenter/ custom cabinet maker. I am making a little 60” Bespoke vanity? I am 50/60 hours into it and it’s almost ready to prime? Yet I hv to make 6 drawers , fronts, & under mount slides go in ! Then sand again and spray! You could frame a large custom home in the time it takes for a custom piece! And be prepared for “ Whinnying” like one of those air raid sirens for tornados !

Good except NO FALL ARREST HARNESS!!! these are required in every US state & Canadian province for a boom machine. Some places allow for no arrest in a vertical scissor lift if the rail is 4 feet tall. Booms all require a harness, especially because of the risk of catapult ejection.
