Bossier City Solar Installation | McElroy Metal
Metal Roofing + Solar = Unbeatable Combination
Solar panels are a long-term power solution. In fact, after 20 years in the field, solar panels should still be producing 90% of their original output.
With that life expectancy, it makes sense to use a roofing material that also provides a long service life. Metal Roofing is the answer. In addition, solar panels can be attached to metal roofing without penetrating the roofing membrane.

    So because of all the materials in the building of a house you say metal roof is not noisy. Lets try in a pole barn without all the added structural components and check the noise! If a metal roof truly isn't noisy it should be quiet in a pole barn too. Or is it more accurate that is not the metal roof that's not noisy, its all the other components that hide the noise?

    I could still hear a dull roar when you went upstairs. Yes it is deadened quite a bit, but the sound isn't the same. In our house (with a shingled roof) the sound of the rain we hear is on the metal chimney cap. Muffled a lot, yes but anything metal gets that pinging sound with raindrops. It's a reality not a myth.

    idk, I wouldn't be surprised if an expensive american house would have the sound proofing needed to deaden the sound of rain, but I've never seen shingles on a house that didn't have good sound proofing, so I don't know if shingles are quieter than metal. I do know that without sound proofing, metal is much noisier than shingled rooves that have sound proofing. Also I don't even hear the sound of rain on metal in your video when the camera is outside, so it's either an odd type of metal, or at least not the type of metal i've ever seen on a roof

    • @McElroyMetal
      @McElroyMetal Před 2 lety

      Thank you for your comment. You point out something very important that we also state in the video. Modern homes typically have a roof deck, attic space, insulation, drywall ceiling, etc. All of those components work together to help deaden the sound of rain. This is true whether the roof is conventional shingles, metal roofing, or any other types of roofing. Unfortunately, when many people think about metal roofing and rain, they remember a barn or maybe a carport where the rain hits a metal roof without any sound barrier. That can be very noisy, but fortunately that is not a typical installation for residential homes.

    • @jasonstarr6419
      @jasonstarr6419 Před 3 lety

      Nancy, not knowing how steep your roof is, it's difficult to say. However, while 12 feet of metal panel is not a light weight, when my wife and i were adding a metal roof on the back of a home, she was able to hand the panels up to me. Granted, they were only 8 feet. but here's a trick. if you don't have someone to help you, you can stand one panel up, use a piece of rope to secure it in the standing position (but in such a way that it won't hinder you from sliding it upward), then go up to where the panel will be installed and pull it up; lay it in place, and secure it. please consider finding someone to help you or better yet, do it for you. broken bones are much more costly than some handyman labor.
