Nora Aunor in "Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang"
"Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang" is a three-episode film directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes and written by Jose Javier Reyes. It was one of Nora Aunor's five box-office hits in 1985. This Regal Films production was shown to SRO crowds on November 28, 1985, three weeks after "Tinik sa Dibdib" and almost a month before "I Can't Stop Loving You."
The first episode is entitled "Sleeping Beauty" starring Snooky Serna and Gabby Concepcion. The second, "Zombies" stars Maricel Soriano and William Martinez. The love team of Guy and Pip headline the third, "Querubin: Maria Leonora Theresa."
"Querubin" is semi-musical. A group of child laborers work for three, mean old ladies (Bella Flores, Mely Tagasa and Flora Gasser). An angel sent from heaven, Querubin (Chuckie Dreyfuss), frees the children from the clutches of the evil crones. Aunor plays Sabel, the virtuous niece of the mean old hags.
Co-starring are Sheryl Cruz and Kristina Paner. Chichay appears as the story teller, Lola Basyang, for the three episodes.
