Matthew here with OutFishing13. One of my passions is going fishing with good friends. I live here in the heart of Utah at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, giving me access to numerous mountain streams and rivers and many reservoirs and lakes. I grew up with a pole in my hand. I admit I am not a fishing expert, however I love getting out and fish as often as possible. So come along and join me as I go out fishing with friends and family.
Action Packed Alaska Fishing! Best Kenai River Salmon Fishing!
Watch it all! This is an amazing, action packed, Alaska fishing video. My brother took us fishing below Skilak Lake on the Kenai River for Red (Sockeye) Salmon. We found a great spot along a shore called Bear Cove that was just vacated by a few parties of fishermen.
Using a technique called "Flossing" we caught our limit of 24 salmon. I call it Flop Fishing and you can see why. The fished ranged from 6-12 pounds and a few gave us mighty battles.

Feisty Current Creek Rainbow Trout

Even though it wasn't the best fishing day according to the Solunar Table, we went the distance to fish Current Creek Reservoir, a small reservoir in the Wasatch mountains. We caught three Rainbows trolling out to where the water spillway comes in. Then we caught our limit of trout after several hours of being patient. Spring ends and summer begins. That means the trout search for colder deeper water and the perch, walleye, crappie and bass start showing up. Jason, from FishFearMe Studios, and I hoped we could catch some more of those big Rainbows, but we found that the perch had showed up in number, so we concentrated on them. We did catch a couple 14 inch Rainbows.
How to put line on a Zebco without line twist

Works for all spincast and closed face reels. Line twist can cause all sort of problems. Nasty line messes, shorter cast and even break the tip of your pole. I demonstrate and explain how to respool your reel without any line twist.

June 1, 2024. Jason, from Fish Fear Me Studios, and I went to Starvation again looking for more of those big rainbow trout. Well, we were not disappointed. I caught my new personal best. 22 3/4 inches and 4.3 pounds. What a dandy. We'll be heading back. Big Rainbow Trout at Starvation

Jason from FishFearMe Studios and I fished Starvation Reservoir on May 27 and caught some of those famous Starvation Rainbow trout they often call steelhead. Our limit of 8 trout weighed a total of 26 pounds making the average 3.25 pounds each. For Zebco lovers, I caught all my trout on a Zebco Bullet and a 2022 Omega Pro ZO3. I took my dad, step-mom and brother down to Otter Creek. It was supposed to be a great day fishing, but the fish had been gorging on a recent hatch of Buffalo Flies and the fish didn't want to bite. Many old vintage Zebcos have a rotten line brake on the spinner cone. This reel was gummed up so bad, nothing would turn. The line brake was rotten. Complete repair to get it back into operation.
