Thank you for taking the time to read this. I am no expert. I am a real Jack of All Trades, Master of None. I love making things and I am driven by endless curiosity to lean and try new things. 4 years ago I couldn't machine, weld, make or even drill very well. I have been inspired by a few wonderful people on CZcams who have had the generosity to share their skills and knowledge with the rest of us.

YouTube Collaboration with JimmysCanal
I am delighted and honoured to have been asked by Dimitris, the man behind @JimmysCanal to help him out with his latest project.
He has been commissioned by a luthier to make a circle cutter to draw out the space for a rosette around the sound hole on a guitar. Needless to say Dimitris has made a stunning tool, with the care and attention to detail he is famous for.
He asked me if I could design and make the blades for the cutter. My gift was one of the circle cutters specially made for me. Happy days.
Hope you enjoy the video and especially Dimitris's video on the making of the tool, which is way harder than my contribution.

Super Simple Temporary Router Table

I wanted to make a super-simple router table I could attach to my workbench when needed and easily remove and store away. This is totally inspired by @jisakukobo and his fantastic, simple design for a desktop router table. However, my benches are too tall so I decided to adapt his ideas but I owe him all the credit. I wanted to push my comfort zone a little and decided to draw out my own blade design and make a stacked leather handle, also a first for me. This video is quite long, so I will show some time codes in case you want to jump ahead. I have to give a shout out to my dear friend Dimitris Polychronis of @JimmysCanal who made the beautiful scriber and piercing saw I use in the video. Music from Sound...
Making a homemade Japanese style chisel
zhlédnutí 878Před rokem
Yet another tool I have had to make in order to complete my Tanto project is a Saya Chisel. When I was making the handle for my Tanto blade, I really struggled to cut out the profile of the tang as my chisel kept digging into the wood. I then found out that Japanese craftsmen overcome this with a gently curved chisel specially to make the "Saya" or scabbard. Here I attempt to make my own versio...
Upgrading the Tormek EasyGrind 2000

I recently bought an older Tormek EasyGrind 2000 which is the old equivalent of the modern T-8 whetstone sharpening system. Fortunately the old and new machines are totally compatible with each other, making an upgrade easy, although not cheap. Music from Soundstripe.com FMJLIPPGB2OYLM1X
Making a Tanto Part 2: The Habaki.

The next step in the process is to get to work on the copper bits and pieces. The first of these is the Habaki: the piece that fits over the blade's ricasso in order to hold the blade firmly in the scabbard. I have coveted one of these machines for a few years. Why? Because I am shocking artist yet I would love to engrave some of the things I make. These were primarily designed for sign writers and commercial engravers going back, I believe to the middle of the last century. However the mechanical principle of the pantograph means that hopefully it can be used for more creative purposes. The manual...

A tip for hammering out large steel: put the hot steel on the side edge or horn of anvil. Work all sides of the steel & your little back patio area is just adorable
Good video , Thanks for posting , I am about to rebuild my 2000 watching this I now know what to do , Cheers.
I bought the machine today second hand, its soooooo aweesome!
Very interesting. Clever plan.
Just stumbled across your videos as I was looking for more information on my pillar drill. It’s great seeing videos that explain subjects from the perspective of someone who is new to the area. Would love to see a video on lathes. Would love to be able to learn and justify getting one myself 😁. Thanks again! Steve
Ur voltage is way too high, thats what causes the edges bleeding on the brother stencil. I'd try half of what ur currently using
I think you should use a proper etching head which would provide equal pressure and less liquid. This way you can get better results from bother.
I think you may have spent more money than you needed to. All you proved is the stone was out of round. That’s an easy fix if you have a diamond grading/truing tool. Regardless, you’ve got a good machine there. I’m hoping to pick up a us3d one too cos there’s no way I’m spending buying a new one.
It doesn't matter whether it was due to the shaft. . The imbalance can be removed with the diamond device "Tormek TT50" and the grinding stone can be dressed like new. Then there is no more imbalance and it runs smoothly again. At most you could just replace the main shaft bearing Greeting

Hello, I want to know How can salt water pass through label paper? Please help clarify this for me. Thank you.
Hey mate thanks for the info, really helpful!👌 do you know the name for stencils on the brother printer, for some reason the link isn’t working for me, thank you very much mate!
Is that as small as they print?
Thanks for teaching me how to use this machine although I don't have any but I believed I'm going to have it one day, thank you once again.
I really need it anyone selling it should inbox me
I need this machine where can I buy it from
I was really lucky and found a t8 at a pawn shop with every single attachment available for 150$!!!! The only thing needed was a replacement leather strop
4:07 use a lube substance mix it keeps it on the ring
Thanks. I found your video helpful to see the upgrades.
Very good work .me personally I prefer to attach the skales to the knife first then shape the handle Wild attached instead of individually, cutting out each side I tend to make a lot of mistakes doing it that way, and less mistakes, actually attaching them first, then shaping them but hey to each their own me personally I just felt like I made fewer mistakes, attaching the scale first then shaping versus cutting out each individual scale to match sides great work on your blade. I found your video informative.👍🏽
info: that thing works really great when the stopping force is not to big so when you are able to grab the De-speeder and hold up against the momentum of the lathe it works but after M12 it gets really hard to get a hold of. Thy for sharing this manificent idea =)
Can i ask.. Where to buying letter this Machine
Nick, just got one of these and did the deep cleaning also - a problem is that the clamp/vise rotates on its axis without a lock - I see zero on the right at 3 o'clock but there is no way for me to tighten a screw or clamp to keep it there - what is missing ? - help . . . .
You say you want 3000watts but if u had 32amp supply would the wire still melt?@6000watt
I wouldn't worry about copying other makers on youtube, your followers may not follow everyone you do so may not see how they do things, so it's good to share. You may have improved loads now with the WA handles, however Simple Little Life has excellent videos on making/ fitting WA handles. 🙂
Did you end up making the knife for your wife? 16:55
Use a pair of channel lóck pliers that's what I use to take the disk off
Hi may i know the voltage and current used ?
I added vinegar and it works better and I'm thinking a spray adhesive on the brother tape might work?
Could you use one of these for domestic bedroom/kitchen fitting
Hello Nick , very good video! Thanks! What is that orange motor in the top right corner? A guy of mine puts a corrugated washer behind the rubber impeller, a thin corrugated 12mm washer and doesn't tighten the nut/bolt quite so tightly. Then the bike won't wobble quite as much
How can i make textures please...
I just got through taking off the wheel on my SuperGrind 2000. Your way of removing the wheel is the easiest way to go. Definitely a design flaw by Tormek to not use a Stainless Steel shaft (as all new shafts are)to prevent the inevitable rust freeze of the shaft to the grindstone. I did watch an instructional video by two Tormek technicians on their system. They recommended placing some machine grease in the plastic bushings. I'm awaiting the arrival of the new SS shaft. Cheers from across the pond. Don M
Brilliant video. I've just picked one up after seeing you're video.
Very useful video for me, I like the idea you could copy the printed picture. If you where to take the tip from a ballpoint pen you might be sble to mount it on the scriber. My machine has a diamond point and it would copy your picture more finely, I'm not sure but it may also engrave the netal better .Thanks for a great video
Glad I found your video, I just got one 2 days ago and have been trying to work it out. Great info and visuals thanks for posting. Now to watch part two
Great couple of videos and has convinced me to buy the same machine.
Is it the same as those „Tapmatic“ threading attachments?
I'm so sorry but have no idea.
Good job
If you want to engrave a shape, such as you have tried, make a former/pattern. I use a base of 20thou styrene, cut out my pattern in the same material and stick it to the base. Use a round blunt follower and go round your pattern. You can make the pattern 2 ,3 or 4 times bigger than the finished work to improve the result. Note that the follower and cutter need to be in the same ratio as the pattern and shape. For a pattern twice the size of your shape the follower has to be twice the size of the cutter. Pantograph Services will grind cutters to any shape/size. I have some parallel cutters from 0.5mm to 2mm in 0.5mm increments. The problem you would have with your leaf shape is getting a true 'V' - even a 0.5mm cutter would leave a curved base but you could file it out.
Hello!! Just popping in to see how you are doing with the Hamon develoupment. Hope you are well...JPH
Have you had to replace the motor capacitor yet?
Hi Mike. No not yet
Bloody great video, so well explained 👌
Thank you so much.
IVery interesting. Also, refreshing to see a video about fixing mistakes! My kiln is at the design stage, so this is useful. I now intend to make the steel frame so that it can be dismantled for doing repairs - some welding but also some bolts. Thanks!
This habaki does not fit the blade at the edge. Nor particularly well at the spine. But it does sort of look like a habaki. We salute you.
I got both printers and this is exactly what I needed , thank you.
You are very welcome
I did my etching on a piece of steel, I see what you mean with the excess water and the lil tiny holes around it, the second time I wrap it much better and it came so much better zero holes, I proceeded to put it on my blade spine and is pretty clean for my first one, once again is very much appreciated, I'm proceeding to find better ways to wrap the stencil , to be continue.@@Ukenick
Keep them coming very good thank you
Beautiful 😍 - if you want to use it on a cutting board, it’s an option to remove the exess material on the heel.
Good point. Thank you
Thank you Sir, for your video, I found that the Tormek TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool - Keeps your Stone Round and Flat is a worthwhile investment. A previous owner must have used the stone without water causing a gouge in the wheel. The diamond dressing tool brought it back flat and round. After watching ALL the instructional videos that Tormek has posted on CZcams and what I have learned from them, I would NOT let just anyone use my Tormek. And yes, I have spent 5 times as much on the various SuperGrind 2000 attachments from Amazon that I need for my wood carving tools. The Tormek TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool was the last accessory I purchased but it should have been the FIRST. It looks like the E-Z Lock shaft may be next. LOL
Thank you. I know I need to buy that and when budget allows I will. Take care and happy honing.
I now remove the stone between uses and store it flat. My stone will get out of round just sitting idle on the machine for extended periods. My Tormek was a Marketplace score too. @@Ukenick
Thats how they get you, doesn't matter if you get a Tormek with about half the attachments ever made for free, you'll still end up buying the other half + stone & wear items so it's a win for them regardless.
Beautifully done! I like a #short that tells a story 👍
