    Hey Jersey Mike! Can a 15k auxiliary heat strip be wired on one breaker or both breakers have to be wired? In other words can one side be used?

    • @JerseyMikeHVAC
      @JerseyMikeHVAC Před 3 dny

      Are you asking if you can use one breaker and power line for the heat strip and the air handler so you don't have to run an additional power line on a separate breaker? If so, my advice would be to put in a small sub panel by the air handler off of the existing electrical line (assuming it's sized for a 15k heater) and then split it with separate breakers from there. You can also call the manufacturer of the air handler and see if they offer a breaker kit for retro fitting heat strips that will serve your purpose. Most do.

    • @cre8tive31
      @cre8tive31 Před 3 dny

      @@JerseyMikeHVAC Mike, I have the breaker kit, I just wanted to know if it is possible to use 1 breaker out of the 2 on a 15 or 20kw heat strip just like I would use a 10kw with 1 breaker since there are 2 heat strips on both the 15 and 20kw heat strip. I have a 10kw, a 15kw and a 20 kw for a Goodman 4 ton variable speed air handler and an inverter variable speed heat pump.

    after watching a few times i now understand what all the wires do,im just having a tough time wrapping my head around what i can do to install this C adapter for the homeywell T9,i have an okder lennox ac with no Y terminal,my tstat is a 3 wire cooling only so i have R,W and G wires,it tells me in the C adapter manual if i have no Y terminal it wont work for my system,im figuring if i can use another terminal to "fool"it maybe i can get this thing to work,im going to go back and study your video some more thanks

    • @JerseyMikeHVAC
      @JerseyMikeHVAC Před 7 dny

      The white wire should be in your Y terminal at the thermostat (originally). That is your Y wire. You don't need W. At the other end of that white wire at the air handler, that white wire will connect directly to another wire that goes straight out to your outside unit. You can try to use that wire as your "Y terminal". The other wire from the outdoor unit is a common wire coming back and should land inside the air handler. Make sure you remember the original wiring because you'll have to put it all back if that doesn't work.

    So my blowers are not coming on would I then jump RTG on the thermostat and see if the actual thermostat is bad?

    • @JerseyMikeHVAC
      @JerseyMikeHVAC Před 8 dny

      Yes, jumpering R to G should start the blower motor if the thermostat is failing to do it. There are some systems with control boards however that will activate the blower on the Y signal (even if the G signal is not making it). Units with fan relay boards in them (no control board) are the ones that rely entirely on the G signal to activate the blower.

    Hi. Thanks for the video! I do have a quick question... I just finished installing a smart thermostat for my boiler and I connected the thermostat with the R (load) rather than at the end with C. Is there a good practice on that? In your diagram we can see the C from the transformer goes to W of the T-stat. Mine would go to the C of the motor. What's your thoughts?

    • @JerseyMikeHVAC
