2024 season about to begin 👹
Thanks for the inciteful outlook and discussion, Mark! You rock! Thank you for all you do!
The vorticity index has been a pretty solid tool, ever since I started watching this channel right after Harvey, I always look at the vorticity forecast. Thank you for all you do Mark.
Great job as always
Très belle vidéo, incroyable cette grêle
Beautiful job!! Nice hail finally!! And sweet lightning
That hail video was great!
Hail storms come so quickly, and there so much damage to people, livestock and buildings, and cars.
I'm late but nad weather here now.
Wow the cattle shot was great!
Putting a scale bar in view of the 360 camera would be handy!!!
OH HAIL!!!!! Thanks Mark. Enjoyed the video.
Lake Placid/Sebring, so far dryer than expected so far. It's south of us so far.
The June CSU update is still the same as the April update.
At least it is not worse!
We often spend our summers in SD and the hail storms there can be absolutely incredible! The biggest we were ever in dropped 6" of hail in one storm. It looked like a blizzard in JULY. Need a hail guard for our truck that's a genius idea! We haven't left for SD yet this and are currently still in FL on Pine Island it's a rainy, wet, and windy day. My wife actually commented it feels like a small tropical storm and then we noticed they upgraded it to an invest... Much needed rain though it's been super dry here!
Be safe, Mark.
you forgot to mention Roof leaks, i was in Walmart today in SW Florida and it was leaking like a Siv with buckets catching the water
Only a couple drops in the Tampa Bay Area and surrounding
CSU is actually out with its update, and I checked it earlier on X. The numbers didn't change though from April and is the same.
Thx Mark
The conditions according to the NHC are mostly unfavorable compared to what it looked like yesterday when the EURO had what was to me believed to be a potential hurricane off the east coast. So, it probably won't amount to being as strong as modeled yesterday if it forms now though.
Bring the rain to tampa
And Jacksonville/NE, FL.
No rain in Fruitland Park area of Central Florida. by Leesburg n south of The Villages as of yet. Just got n humid at 1152 am
Isn’t this the second X; but first X of the Season?
When was the other X?
@@TheTania323 April iirc
Yea true there was an X out in the Atlantic during Alril
During April.
@@great-t-crazydogworld2893yeah even news channels forgot as well
Here we go. Bro I have been waiting for this time of the year. I love storms and I love your channel. You are the best hands down.
Omg same! I don't like seeing the devastation, but I love seeing the actual storm and seeing it when it hits land!
Same (love storms). It’s pretty messed up considering how many lives they ruin lol but the bigger the storm and more destruction the better
Hurricane season is my favorite time of year too!
These models are not reliable really at all until maybe 3 days out, currently the models now take it to Texas, these models the past 4 years are becoming more inaccurate at this point I take it with a grain of salt until 72 hrs out 🤷🏽♂️
So no live streams of hail?
Definitely slowly starting to get that look of something but might not amount to much.. still to early to tell
I am not from Florida but I sometimes hear phrases like the Florida panhandle and today you mentioned the Florida peninsula. I know I can Google it but can you explain what area or section of Florida is each, especially since you said you have a geography background? Thanks. Give us a brief geography lesson please.
I received my 2024 hurricane map today ! Thank you Mark.
Yep, the longer it takes for the tropical activity in the Atlantic basin to get going the more energy that they're going to have in the ocean when tropical cyclones do form and the better the chance for rapid intensification which already is quite high as expected.
Thx Mark!!❤
I sure hope we get some good rain here in NE Florida.
it looks like a standing cell of rising air parks out over the epac/BOC area. GOM may see some big action
Mark, watch out for the diamondback rattlesnakes, I saw a huge one sitting next to a cement bench at Devils tower in 1983
greetings from. coastal western central Florida! Bring on the rains, we need it!!
Thanks for all you do, Mark! Be safe out there!
I look at this scenario like when the SPC looked at the data days before the April 27th 2011 event. Everything from the CAPE (Capable Potential Energy) to the STP (Significant Tornado Parameter) were off the charts, as James Spann would say. And when I look at the water temperature anomalies for the Atlantic basin, and the Gulf of Mexico, I feel that same type of feeling that I felt then. Yes, it's comparing tornadoes to hurricanes, but things still work the same. The only difference between a tropical system becoming a hurricane, and a low pressure system/trough, with a cold front trailing, is the fact wind sheer hurts hurricanes, and aids tornadoes. And there likley won't be alot of wind sheer to affect these tropical waves when the storms start popping up.
the models have been showing this set up for weeks in advance, did you notice it too? trackes is oped and i wont worry until i see a danger doughnut heading my way for a few days straigth on the euro 2 weeks in advance.. imagine we get 40 storms during the 3 month spike?
Thx Mark
Some people don't know about tracking Hurricanes on a paper map...it's fun ❤for us 'old' peeps.
Have one ordered 😉
I'm still looking for the right wood to put the map on so I can use push pins.
I did that all the way up until 2017! Might do it again someday.
My dad and I have been tracking hurricanes on the same paper map that I got laminated since 1979 Hurricane Season. Hurricane David sparked our interest in hurricanes, so I enjoy going over his house and we track hurricanes together
@@gregd4633 He's gotta be old. A true weather OG.
We need the rain so bad I'll literally take a flash flood in Tampa.
Remember though, the soil is hard and it will take time for it to start absorbing moisture. Flooding is almost a definite!
Early this morning with the update, Mark thanks for all your hard work really enjoy. Listen to all your content.
I used to live in New Orleans in the Gentilly area. My raised house got 6 feet of salt water in it. It was also hit by a tornado from hurricane Katrina. I have relocated to Baton Rouge and I sometimes wonder if storm surge could reach me here in northern Baton Rouge? I have seen simulation drawings saying that a surge from a slow moving cat 5 storm might reach southern Baton Rouge. What is the possibility of this happening, storm surge reaching southern Baton Rouge? We had a severe rain flooding event in 2016 that flooded my home with 4-5 inches of water but some got 4-12 feet just from rain in Baton Rouge.
None to 0🙏🏽
I still cannot figure out why the storm surge was so light on the Caloosahatchee River during Ian, I think it was only 4 feet above sea level, the hurricane was a 5 so can you tell me why
SWFL native here. Old Jack's Marine just west of the Franklin Locks had a high water mark just under 7'. The Franklin Locks were also overtopped with extensive flooding damage to homes along the river, east of the Locks. These are personal reports from known individuals.
@@caspergregory5239 but how high was the surge in the town of ft myers itself, the downtown area, I live sw west of the downtown and the surge looked like it was 4 feet , I can see it being higher further down the river
Re study of hail, one thing you could look into is windshields and angles of deflection, the car / vehicle industry seemingly has never bothered to advise their customers on such matters despite selling their cars in places with hail like golf balls on the regular.
I've never thought about why I got into weather until tonight, thank you. It was the October 1987 UK "Hurricane" for me. While it wasn't a hurricane it was my first and only experience of hurricane-force wind, my area of London was hit badly that night.
Mark, this is not hurricane related but there is a very interesting video of the tsunami in Japan in 2011 and it mimics very well the damage that storm surge can cause in the form of transporting debris, enough to make you not want to be in the water during such an event. czcams.com/video/MEBFTiPhlN8/video.html
