We grew up in Rochdale and it gave us everything we needed to make a life in the big wide world. I'm sorry to see it's decline in recent years and wish it and it's people well for the future. ❤
I've walked it many times and except for Stubbing Wharf and Callis Gardens I never knew the names of places. I love your videos and hope to return someday.
Teach this to children in Rochdale.I grew up there never knew anything like this.wish I had.all I knew was poverty and mill work.

Hey from Rochdale in england
Our rocker dale has been multi cultural for ever you only need to listen wat the good people of Rochdale said about slavery and I can say with out a shadow of a doubt even though there families were struggling that's why they condemned slavery. ..they wunt have known soon as they found out are people will stand together for eternity. ..real people bullshit doesn't wash with us ...love to all
Hello John Cole, you have fact wrong. My 3rd great grandfather James Taylor was married to my 3rd great grandmother Esther not Martha.
I worked in Rochdale for 7 year's lovely people
1:10:15 Clean, modern, airy, & well designed. . . Hmmm?? Great vid. Such a shame that Rochdale as had decades of under investment, poorly managed funds, & badly designed road systems & housing, etc. RIP to the town centre too. :-(
Great video. Looking forward to more. Cheers.
Great History

Now a home of asbestosis, lslamification and child sex abuse.
watched the whole film now, (i commented about 10 mins into it before)...loved it..ya know what...i want to go back home xxxx
am enjoying this film, when I lived there (growing up in Marland and Sudden area), at school we learnt about the co-op and the little shop in Toad Lane and Sir John Bright in Broadfield Park.am now in my 40's and haven't lived there not for years but it's so easy to slag off this town but when I go back I reminisce about my life growing up there and it was a good place, I went to school, went out to nightclubs (90's), chippy on corner lol...., lacrosse on sundays, the Toby , st aidens church, violin lessons around milkstone road, became diverse in one part and I been back recently and it's more diverse but no different than anywhere else x
Ok video

Do you have links? Please tell us more. Thanks.
170 years today since the birth of the co operative
Thanks for the video -- I enjoyed it a lot! What's the name of the song that plays over the end credits? I presume it's a traditional folk tune.
I'm back to comment on the slavery of those poor children, can you imagine having your children 4 and 5 years old working in the mine shafts...gives me the ebejeebies!
Don't be surprised if this video we are sharing attracts enthusiasm from tourists...maybe meself...hehehehe
JC I find this very fascinating, thank you for video. Someone should make a movie of the place. You live in an interesting place, If I could be a fly on a wall, in your pubs...LOL blessings!
Not a single mention of any of the Royds family.
Do you have links? Please tell us more. Thanks.
Onwards & upwards Rochdale? Doesn't look like it, does it? The Co-op movement has been overwhelmed by the global cooperative movement of the multinationals. Good luck to the parochial Chamber of Commerce. If they keep giving the globalists greenfield sites to desecrate, plus subsidies, they might enjoy a few crumbs in return. And less said of Cyril Smith, the better.
Went to know view school seen him many times in the school
