ASMR - stamps - trash to treasure
Registrace 20. 12. 2013
I take tatty old stamps from disorganised albums, grubby old collections etc, and pull out the ones I like best. I give them a bath, organise them, and lay them out on printed album pages. Trash into treasure.

Like and sub!!! Best regards!!! =)
I see it is again mentioned in one of the comments below that used stamps of these hyperinflation stamps are worth more than mint versions. Is that true? Do you ever use soap in the water to clean up and wash stamps? I see some people do it that way and I wondered if soap added to the water will clean the stamps more thoroughly than water alone. Great video, thanks! I learned some things about the hyperinflation stamps.
Yes, quite often the case. You'd have to check in a catalogue for the current prices, but in general, legitimate postally used examples are worth more, sometimes a lot more, depending on the stamp. Interesting idea about using soap. Not heard that one before. Maybe I'll do some tests...
@@stamps151 Thanks for confirming the info about difference in value of cancelled and mint stamps of the hyperinflation stamps.
@@stamps151 Maybe you will find it interesting to view this video by Ted Talks Stamps where you will see how he uses soap in soaking the stamps. czcams.com/video/g70TDrdGPZQ/video.html
This channel feels like something special Much love all the way from Iran ❤
Greetings, friend :)
I learned about Legrady Sandor and saw some nice Hungarian stamps and I enjoy the soaking process. I thus enjoyed the video. 🙂Thanks! I know it is your choice, and I do not know what your viewers think, but I personally miss sound. Even some music would have been better than the total silence. I don't mean it as negative criticism. I watch anyway.
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure about music. I think it might be distracting. I have considered doing a voice-over instead of captions, but I think it's got a more individual style this way. It's not completely silent - if you use headphones you can hear the sound in the room (and the road outside!). Good to hear your views though. Cheers.
@@stamps151 I also thought afterwards that the lack of voice-over or music actually makes your videos unique and I should not have commented about it. I do enjoy your videos and will keep watching, which shows that you are not doing something wrong. 🙂 Yes, I do listen with head phones and heard the background sounds which are not unpleasant. Thanks for replying to my comment!
Was that 4 complete sets ? For some reason i was thinking there is more of them
No, sadly not complete sets. Just as many as I could find in these old albums.
I just discovered your channel, and it has quickly become one of my favorites for stamp content.
Thanks 😀
Nice set. I am wondering you removed all hinges and still putting new ones?
Yes. The old hinges all soaked off in the water. New ones applied to the stamps, ready for the page.
IIRC, postally used German "inflation" era stamps are worth more than mint, never used "inflation" era stamps....looks like those old albums of yours provided a complete collection of these !
OK. I did not understand why the pages didn't fit the stamps, but now I read above: it is a trial run. ... Looking forward to more.
Hi. Yeah, I should probably take this video down. I was just trialling the idea at the time.
@@stamps151 🙂I think it makes for an interesting first video. 🙂
@@GreatStampAdventure Thanks. I'll leave it up then. (I'm easily influenced 😂)
@@stamps151 Ooops, and I don't like it necessarily when people make decisions based on my suggestions. 🤭Too much responsibility. 🤪
very nice way to give a new home to some well-known common and often ignored old postage stamps!
Love this new style of video
One method I've used of pressing soaked stamps is to put them into a manila page stock book, then pile stuff on top to press the stamps flat. OF course, with your method of using towels and a heavy tome, that works too and costs a bit less.
Hi. Thanks for the tip. I've never bothered about it before, as they will go flat in time anyway, but in these videos I want them flat quickly for the camera - so I may check out the type of stockbook you mention. Tea-towels probably aren't the best either, but they do work :)
There are so many surprises and poetic touches in your videos. I love the silence.
Hey, thanks! Glad you like them. There's a curious little moment coming in my next one. I won't spoil it here... 😄
I really enjoy your videos. So much fun with common stamps. I agree with the Karsh stamp opinions, the actual photos are far better. 🙂 I was hoping you would add the caricature series roo, but they are mainly prime ministers, I guess. Love your videos! ❤
Thanks, Mark. Really appreciate the feedback. You're right, there are other sets in the albums which might have been eligible, some of which you can see in the vid. One of the constraints at the moment is I'm limited to 15 minutes per film, as a new channel. If it grows, I will eventually be able to make longer ones with more stamps included. Thanks for the kind words 🙂
very nice
The shield display is really nice! Which country will be next on your list...? :)
Very nice to see a new stamp channel! Enjoying your videos and I'm looking forward to the next. Thank you! :)
Not to be too harsh but please work on enhancing your hinging technique. There are some great tutorials on CZcams worth watching. I think it will add the visual appeal of your pages
Very meditative. And the joke was deadly, funny that is
What software do you use to print the pages
I use Album Easy - it's free to download. Just type in the wording you want and the size of any boxes, and it lays everything out.
@@stamps151 Thanks. I thought so. Another question. You don't seem to leave empty boxes for stamps in the sets that you don't have. Am I right? and if so why not. I am really enjoying the videos . Thanks
@@bzurer You are right - I just make spaces for the stamps I have. Just because the idea is to rescue stamps from these albums and present them. I don't intend to add any additional stamps. Glad you're enjoying them :)
That joke at 12:04 had me laughing my socks off! ROFL 🤣
I like the new educational bit!
Sick vid bro!
Nice vid man! Love the sounds of the stamps coming off the page
