Keystone Paper & Box Co
In South Windsor, Connecticut, you’ll find a packaging printing company named Keystone Paper & Box Company. The owner, James Rutt, is the third generation owner, and while we are visiting the company, James (Jim) shows us around, greets all employees by their first name, and knows exactly when each piece of equipment was acquired. The BOBST, the gluers, the windowing machine, and while being on tour, getting the exciting story about how Keystone Paper and Box Company became what it is today. With Robert Papa as COO, the company is now initiating a new growth phase that, according to Papa, will double the size of the company. The heart of the production is the two new manroland 700-series offset machines. One is an 8-color straight machine with a manroland cold-foiling unit installed, and for the second, the foundation is being laid for the second machine. Im a minder on a 8col double coater 900 evo. All the bells and whistles on it but it always needs tlc from minders with years of experience in the trade. I pity youngsters coming through the ranks now. Its more science now than putting ink on paper

I ran a heidlberg 12 col carton press . single manned, ie, on my own, with all the gizmos, I used to crawl out completely knackered. I left the trade. These machines will kill you.

@@user-nu6rw2cf5u я тоже раньше на sm 52 работал и Roland 505. В апреле перешёл в другую фирму, теперь печатаю на Roland 705, 2015 года.

@@dp369 Even with the new systems, it still is and will always be a tradesman skill that achieves successful print and performance. The newer systems are designed to aid the Operator of the press to achieve a quicker result with fewer steps involved through technology.
Pretty soon you will just need a floorboy to operate these machines.

I started my apprenticeship by the age of 16 years old. Roland Parva 2 colours with no alcohol!! I was born in 1963. High printing skills it was to be a printer and paper was also bad quality turning sometimes a nightmare setting up the feeder. I miss so much my apprenticeship but I would love to watch the present Master printers operating the old printing machines without alcohol!! (water sleeves).
