I had same issues. But water issue was sunroof drain. That’s where my water came from. And yes 100% when I picked up the join point of that wire the tape fell off and the wires separated. Thank you mate. Saves me thousands $

Hi Rez, I have 2023 Audi Q7 and somebody scratched my rear bumper lower valance which is the shiny black optic plastic, which cannot be painted has to be changed for new, I wanted to know does the whole bumper have to be removed to change the lower black valance? Thanks

Yup, as others have said, this is the cause of many electrical issues with the early Cayenne. Water gets into the foot wells from the air con, from the sunroof drains and also from door seals when the doors sag over time as the weight bends the hinges. The water soaks into the foam under the carpets and starts to corrode the wiring harnesses. Back in those days, when a customer added a factory option, they would splice the wiring to add that option. The problem is that they did not use proper water proof heat shrink on those joins and they are exactly where the water sits. If you have issues with weird electrical faults - brake booster, bonnet open warning, abs, central locking, interior lighting, cruise, all sorts of things that seem unrelated, then the chances are you need to repair the wiring on these harness on each side of your cayenne. Also watch for water coming in from the windscreen seal which leaks onto the alarm siren and causes mayhem with lights, hazards flashing, etc. I have an early cayenne turbo and learned a lot chasing these issues!

For everyone out there who did it wrong at first if you tighten the bolt back up (without the handle in) pull the internal lever with a circle pick all the way out and loosen the bolt again the lever will stay out and problem solved 👍🏼
