I almost bought an Xb but instead chose a Rav4 '13-'18 to do the same thing as you. Better mpg with his 2.5L and 6 speed ,it's not a 4x4 only fwd .Same cargo capacity rear seat completely removed, I'm 6'4'' and with the front passenger seat still in place but all the way forward my MundoKing Thermarest (same length as me) fit perfectly in the rear. I built a collapsible half platform to level the sleeping area. To sleep better with the windows closed because we quickly suffocate without air exchange I have a bypass in the rear to control without the ignition key the blower fan of the Rav ,so I leave it for only a few minutes while I wake up at night. Never had a battery drain problem with this.

WE have Toyota Sienna 2008, it is only 150000 miles. Do you think it is okay with two weeks road trip from Houston to LA, and Washington state and back to Houston.

You've inspired me. I had to do a road trip from Maryland to Ft. Bliss Tx. Then back home. Something like this would work so great for me. I may have to look into doing something like this for my future. Scions are so great on gas too. 5 speed here standard. Love it.

I tried and failed repeatedly. I finally figured out that my Android's bluetooth settings did not have the "Discover nearby devices" enabled. I set the property to "enable", and the app connected immediately on my next try.

I miss the old days when my kids were still toddlers to teenagers years we frequently took road trips together in minivans. The best minivan for road trips has been the 2005 Toyota Sienna, the Sienna accumulated 325K miles with only minor repairs. It’s roomy and ride quality exceeded my expectations because of excellent suspension and thick padded seats with velour smoothness. Kids have grown up and have their own vehicles but I still have the 2005 Sienna.

Do you know how to remove the plastic on the sides of the spare tire? I have a water leak coming in from one of them and can't remove the external panels because my scion was in an accident

Your current design is no good, do this way: 1) remove the head rests for both passenger seat and rear seat; 2) push the passenger seat all the way forward; 3)bring down the back of rear seat and push down the back of passenger seat towards rear seat. In doing so, the tip of the back of passenger seat could touch the tip of rear seat, squeeze it down until they are flat against each other. your current design removed the back of rear seat and replaced it with some wood plate, how much space you created in this kind of design? not much!

The back of passenger seat can be laid flat to make more space in that direction, especially when you already removed the back of back seat.

This can also be used for moving, which I am driving for such a long 8 hour drive

i have the exact layout, the great thing about this setup is that you have a lounge area in the back seat, great for hangout/eating/reading/gaming when its raining or mosquitos outside.

I have similar set up with the Massimo and Jackery 1000 plus two 100 w panels. I need both panels if I want charge rather than just maintain the battery level.

Is there a video of the making of the rear bunk area?

I used your video as inspiration for my own build. One important detail regarding sleeping dimensions is that the interior skin of the XB's hatch is THICK, and when closed protrudes into the hatch enough to rob you of about 3 inches. 3" may seen trivial, but if you're 6 feet tall, it prevents you from being able to sleep straight, and forces you to sleep at an extreme angle, which is uncomfortable; and negates camping with a second person. Bummer

My grandparents always took my bros and I camping. It was fun and all, but the BEST camping trips were when my grandpa took us to just random spots that weren’t camping sites. Shot a gun for the first time during one of these trips.
