This is so cool to come across. That’s my Gido on the fiddle. He was amazing on the instrument- as a young boy he made his first violin then taught himself to play. He lost half of his left finger in ‘82 and never missed a beat, all while being legally blind. I grew up watching these guys!!

All I can imagine is a full dance floor with these guys! They're very good!

Brings me home

As a very young teen, I would just hang out, outside the open door entrance to the tavern from the long gone Alberta Hotel in Vegreville, while my parents were inside, (I could always see everything that was happening, which was so cool) Fast forward today I feel so blessed what I saw back then, and experiencing to see and hear Helen and the Rhythm Makers perform live, plus many other Ukrainian bands from that era of the 70's, the memories will always be golden! I'll never forget these times thanks to my musical Mom and Dad!

Great music but no one to dance with

This was a terrific series of Tsymbaly music with young people, now it would be nice to have another concert with as many of the same young people again. I think the instrument itself has a real nice and interesting sound!!

Certainly a major band contributing to UKE genre. Always great to hear some of their LPs.

I’m all for students, they are the future of the present. It takes a lot of gumption to play in front of crowds, it’s. Havre for me an old man to talk in front of onto of a small meeting, but playing would be even worse what happens if I make a mistake music makes it even more noticeable.

Very nice recording mix for its time, great reverb on the fiddle, really helps the playing style shine! Just curious, does it say where it was recorded? A lot of old time bands were using sunshine records in those days, just curious.

Nick Hnatiuk well known musician. One of the best during the 60s-70s era. One of the best. And great tsymbaly playing here as well. Well known Edmonton musician. Great song for this day.
