Hello mam! I am from nepal and recently I completed my high school in the field of bio science, but I want to join the course of international law in USA. Is it possible for me to go there and retrive my bachelor degree in the field of international law?
Could you please do a video on the new online-hybrid law school model?
Oooh that's a great video idea!!
Angela, I watched all your interview videos in preparation for an interview that is my dream job for my current level of experience. I employed almost all of the tactics you recommended. Your video about the best/worst quality questions were particularly helpful. Best interview I've ever had. They called back with an offer only 2 hours after the interview was over. So, I'm giving credit where credit is due. Please accept my sincerest thanks and gratitude. P.S. I love your last name. Any relation to Amy Vorpahl from College Humor?
OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That's SO freaking amazing and I'm so happy for you!!! And YES! Amy is my sister!!!
Just started part time law school at 39! 14 years in law enforcement. Never to old and never too late!
Congratulations!!! That's amazing. I know this is going to resonate for sooo many people. đ
Does the evening program offer scholarships?
Good question! I can't imagine why evening programs wouldn't offer scholarships, but I would definitely ask the admissions department of the law schools you're thinking about applying to (or reach out to current evening law students attending those law schools to ask them).
It rlly sounds like you donât have a life outside of work with a law profession đ
Every law firm is definitely a bit different, but I don't want to mislead you guys--if you work in private practice (i.e. a law firm), it's going to demand a LOT of your time. That being said, there are definitely steps you can take to be incredibly intentional about how you schedule your time around work to still do things you enjoy, see people that you love, and feel like a human.
This seems like every law firm Iâve worked for, as a paralegal.. and Iâve worked at boutiques and mid-sized law firms. I donât see the distinction. I was working thanksgiving eve for a trail for a firm that only had like 3 partners.
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! But thank you for sharing this valuable insight, it's so helpful for people considering a career in law to hear what the work expectations truly are inside private practice.
@@AngelaVorpahl totally! In my experience, mid sized law firms can be just as intensive bc they often do not have the same staff as big law firms, so often a paralegal or LA is wearing multiple different hats or covering the the work of more than one paralegal. Smaller firms or sole practitioners often are unstable, and so you can be let go or part of a mass staff lay off at a momentâs notice if the atty didnât budget properly (happened to me twice)

I am interested in criminal laws, criminal lawyer even a prosecutor, but l donât know which specialty should I choose. I will be a high school student this year, ana l want to study from now
2L. Not about the money. I will only work for myself. Iâm here to advocate for animals and other civil rights issues. Iâm the oldest in my class. Everyone wants big law & big money. Thereâs your source of misery. 1/2 the class is having a nervous breakdown starting on day 1 of 1L. Or 0L!! I did that in undergrad and no more. I decided I was going to do law school my way and practice my way & keep my mental & physical health.
Did you see the scott peterson appeal. It is 30 min lon and your comments are desired good adjitives.
This is such good content. I am a 4th year in big law and wish I had listened to this when I started. Still glad I stumbled upon this video now because it makes a lot more sense because I have the full context in mind i.e., itâs not abstract. This is advice we get when we start but always good to revisit each year to evaluate if youâre hitting all the points. Thanks for this video!
I'm so glad the video was helpful! I remember how tough it is to have those gaps in knowledge as a junior associate when all you want to do is be an amazing lawyer. đ
How many years will it take to finish the required stuffs before practicing in US
Here is the truth Iâve lived - the large majority of attorneys will moan and groan and tell you not to go to law school. Itâs the nature of the profession and youâll hear it over and over and over. Itâs not true and Iâd know. Almost 22 years of experience now. You do not have to be a trial lawyer or even a lawyer at all with a law degree. In my opinion, itâs far more valuable than an MBA or most masterâs degrees (absent specialties like engineering, medicine). I know plenty of people who never practiced law a day in their lives and have incredibly successful careers. Iâd suggest you ignore the naysayers if itâs something youâre interested in pursuing. Be very careful about your debt though. Itâs worse than ever and something not talked about enough.
I wanted this to be great, but as soon as you mentioned the gender lawsuits you lost me. How about real world, real life issues? Suing your law firm is the fastest way to ruin your career regardless of the âlawâ Kiss your careers goodbye
I want to go to Law School but have no energy to even study for my SAT this year. If I canât even do that do I even have any hope for the LSAT next year.đą
I hear you. One consideration might be that you don't feel that connected with the outcome that the SAT is designed to provide you? In other words, if getting into college doesn't feel aligned or exciting, then I can absolutely see how studying for the SAT doesn't feel motivating.
I did the quiz and it says I should be a litigator.
Nice!! (That's what I was and I loved it!)
You should talk to Victor Miller for the real truth. That's Me.
This is a great video with wonderful insights especially for someone like me who's just branching out on her own, starting her solo practice and putting out more content on social media. Thank you
I'm so happy to hear it! And congratulations on starting your own practice! That's amazing!!
I donât think the 30-50% statistic is really accurate. Julian Sarafian seems to think that only 5% of associates actually remain in big law across the board. Iâm not sure where he got that statistic from, but I think itâs undoubtedly true in regards to the V10 firms. There, your chances of making EP are similar to your chances of winning the lottery. In 2011, 47 Harvard law grads became partners. In 2006, Harvard sent 338 graduates to big law firms. So, only 15 percent of Harvard grads became partners, while an even lower number became equity partners. Essentially, being an equity partner is like winning the lottery in terms of your odds. To me, it would sting like hell to do everything right, get into HYSCCN, ace the LSAT, ace your classes, and survive until your sixth, seventh, or eighth year only to be told that your efforts meant very little.
I definitely hear you, and I think you're right! That statistic is way smaller, especially now as equity partnership numbers shrink. I completely hear you on the disappointment of working towards something that ultimately doesn't happen, but all of those years of work will definitely not be for nothing. You can always try for partnership at a smaller or more regional law firm, or take the client relationships that you've built up over the years and start your own law firm. :)
This is the first video Iâve seen of yours! I graduated from undergraduate with not the greatest GPA (2.99) I am currently studying for the LSAT
That's so exciting that you're starting on your journey to law school! I actually host a free FB group for new and aspiring law students looking for clarity and support in their law school journey, would you like the link to join?

Law Schools are extremely easy compared to Eng / Med Schools.
I LOVE this.
I'm so glad to hear the video was helpful!
Can you do a video on being more efficient? I was extremely detail oriented at my prior firm (1st year associate, M&A), tried my hardest not to make mistakes, and turned in good work product. One of the criticisms I received was that I was âinefficientâ and took too long to do certain tasks (from my end, I think it was because I spent a lot of time double and triple checking to make sure there no mistakes). Also, I tended to ask more questions rather than less because (1) I didnât want to wing it and do something completely wrong (avoiding the need for the senior to fix my error); and (2) didnât want to take forever hunting around and looking around for something if I could ask a Q and have someone point out where it was to me. Some people seemed to like this (and would often hop on the phone when giving me assignments and weâd talk through the document, discussing what we wanted to do for certain portions because neither of us knew 100% what the right move was and decisions had to be made), others hated it (because they were busy and didnât have the time). Couldnât figure out how to differentiate between these kinds of people beforehand. Last thing, how do you appear to want to add value and be hungry to contribute more fully without coming off as entitled? Iâve heard that as a junior you need to fight for substantive work to show youâre a go getter, but at the same time, itâs very easy for that to come off as âentitledâ and like youâre âtoo goodâ for the lower level task.
Great video! Starting Law school in August at the age of 45. Going full time and my goal is to finish in 2.5 years. Not gonna pivot careers but a law degree will definitely enhance it and open other opportunities in my field.
Congratulations! That's amazing!! It's so cool to hear how intentional and focused you're being about your goal too! If you're starting law school this fall, I'm actually giving my free 1L Masterclass next week (talking about the strategies to set yourself up for the grades you want), would you like the link to join?
I opted to apply for the flex llm program tailor made for the bar exams. Is it a good choice?
This is so interesting to watch. Iâm office admin in a small law firm, working towards a paralegal degree before law school. Thereâs so much to learn just sitting in a law firm.
That's awesome! You're going to get such great exposure about how the practice of law actually works! I'm not sure if you're looking for more of a community, but I run a free FB group for new and aspiring law students looking for clarity and support in their law school journey! LOVED THE SHOW!! I need season 2, im so disappointed
omg same!!!
Just as a reminder. The population in most western countries overall is getting older and older by proxy mostly due to the advancements of modern medicine and the declining birth rates in western countries. The fact is that more mature ppl will have to work on and so it is very realistic to assume itâs a natural consequence that we as more mature folks ( Iâm a 46 year old female w/prior college degrees, speaking more than 3 languages fluent, living in the US making my money working in a second career as a manual therapist, ( despite my prior college degrees which I have not earned close to equivalent to my last earned associates degree in my mid thirtiesâŠ) OF COURSE we are capable, of course we would bring so much to the tableâŠhoweverâŠunless the âcultureâ changes, likely itâs gonna be significantly harder, if not mostly impossible. Law is the culture around law not being anymore a pure altruistic sense made career. The house of law is not a place of justice. When societies and systems are not build upon true values of truth and justice to bring to its ppl ( regardless of $$$) than what is a law worth at all? If a society does not form upon significant values agreed upon than the writing of any law is doomed to begin with. And no law can take place in any society that does not follow the first law of all. Which are base pillars of sense and order. We we are ready to face reality than things can progress, rehabilitate. However just as in any common space of societyâŠhealth care, housing, education, foreign and domestic politicsâŠthe US has really nothing to show for itself. Mind you Americans who do not regularly travel around the world wouldnât have a single insight⊠The âAmerican Dreamâ was and is a generated âFantasiaââŠand if the States were all that empire like thing then let me assure you to state the facts of history. Most empires did not last loooong. And ALL empires fell. They did thrive at itâs peak but always came from extortion and greed, build on compromising any natural and logical senses, innate to us humans, we could do different, BUTâŠsomehow we are stuck just repeating the same story over and over. Doomed and dooming all and everything around us. I donât long for a god, a higher anything to get out of my own self. I donât matter and yet we all matter. Collectively we do harm. Most to one another. But on the greater scale we truly mess up this planet. And along us we seem to ruin anything amongst. Most times I want us to solve the problem. But even more times I come to understand we ARE our own biggest enemy and dragging everything down with us. It must have been a great divergence when the evolution of the homo Homo sapiens started at the same time the Blue planet erupted out of the universe. May it be fait or may it be faith, in the end we must as humans go away and not exist anymore to save this planet. Everything in nature is connected is inadvertently necessary to give room and space and nourishment to most anything else. Except us. We are perpetuate in self destructing and along ( based off of delusions) destroying the very environment that gave us life. Itâs on every level bewildering. Why even have a brain so big and a conscience and a soul and mind and heart and understanding so much, when at the same time being your own cause of total destruction? May the force be with us fallible humans, as I know most any one single person is not bad. We do what we do. Again and again. Over and over. But as a whole we are showing up looking STUPID. Like we can even wrap our âperceiving mindsâ around the least simple concepts of self preservation. Itâs NOT greed. Itâs NOT war. That ever answer to our forthcoming short comings. Certainly also isnât any story of the Kumbaja version. Yaâll behold yourself, try to be chill and at any cost control your emotions and know that thinking isnât knowing.
