Old automatic watches , need a few startup windings. As to manual winding , know how many rounds you need to windup

I ordered one and it has a power reserve of 9 hours what is the cause of this?

I would buy an old skx 150 meter quartz version and an islanders watch from Mark if I wanted an automatic.

So you recommend winding a watch the same time every day. But what if it's raining? Let's face it this video was pointless nonsense.

my myota 8215 gives prob 15 hours of power reserve then stops.

I’m old enough to remember when an “automatic” watch was simply called a “self-winding” watch, and most of us usually just wound our mechanical watch in the morning before putting it on… sort of topping off the spring tension a little. The Bulova Accutron tuning fork movement was the space-age dream watch back then. Another reminder of how time passes quickly.

Can I get some opinions on whether or not it’s perfectly safe to wind (even daily) an automatic watch? Personally I LOVE the connection to the watch that hand winding gives, but I obviously don’t want to put undo wear and tear on my watch either.

I just got an 009 from F Market place at 160£, and I cant wait to receive it,comes with box and it has some patina and mild scratches, I have wanted one for quite some time,am new to the hobbie,so I was late when they discontinued it... for 400$ I can think of better watches where to put your money (mainly vintage)... but time will tell where does this Icon in terms of price...

Nh35 is going to be a legendary movement. Its an all time great in my opinion

To me this movement is one of the greatest ever. Very robust and reliable. I got a unicorn running +/- 1 sec a day, but my other two running about 10-12 and other 35. Shows you how wide the range is so I need to regulate it myself. At least its very precise!

I have Aquascape classic silver white. The lume is bad but the biggest problem with my watch is the bezel. I’ve hade it sent to Baltic about 3 times but still my bezel has once AGAIN started to spin in both directions. I’ve seen some others having the same problem so for me the watch is more of looker than a quality piece. I love the design but I will never buy Baltic again.

They're both obsolete: Miyota 9k series movements are where it's at.

Funny my retail jewelry shop with watch repair staff recommends letting my autos run 24-7 and I wind my watches daily. This video is not correct. But all things mechanical wear out and need maintenance.

No. Not in 2024. You should buy in 2021 for $70. That's what I did.

It is not only the years, but the time that the watch has been on your wrist, and they "treatment" they´ve received. Most unserviced watches don´t just break, they give you signs such as gaining or losing time, or even come to a stop.

I use a BERNY Automatic Compressor Diver Watch V3-AM339MS, and i love it, it looks very nice and works well. For the cheap price, is that watch and the 8205 Myota not bad. Its my Favorie Watch😆👌🏻

SKX’s are still brilliant. They’re still super cheap for a 200m ISO diving watch that is iconic. Should you paying $40K for a Rolex that is losing thousands of dollars a year is a better question! 😂

I own 3 218 and 1 214 space view they are not fragile and they are very accurate. I agree this watch need service and a bath.

I have the ST3600 movement in a clone Panerai PAM111 case. It is a beautiful watch that is keeping almost perfect time, 1-2 seconds a day. Can`t complain about that. The person that built the watch said that the movement came dry, so he had his watch guy oil lubricate it.

If you're putting enough stress on a crown while winding it to snap it, you've got problems.

I have miyota 8285 movenment . its accuracy is +- 1 second per day

In my experience the 8215 is at least as good a movement in use as the NH movements.

Rotor sound on miyota is VERY loud and annoying. I'll never buy it again!

TQ for this video. I bought mine in 1995 for only USD 1000. At that time the 41mm version was only available in quartz movement. Even Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" was a quartz version.
