Have worked in prior auth ( aka the dark side) for 15 years. I make way more than in clinical medicine. I feel so sorry for practicing MDs. I don’t regret a thing.

I wish you would talk more about negative stuff I think these non-clinical professions are being dangled like a carrot in front of most exhausted physicians and maybe the field was different 10 years ago but now it seems like it’s oversaturated and since there is no clear path to a secure paycheck it’s highly volatile and confusing

What about legal consult consultation availability within the group? The most worrisome area is malpractice .

I actually just had this conversation with my PCP. I had no idea they had to pay for someone to take notes for them. That makes absolutely zero sense to me, unless it’s in their own practice as an employee.

Mike, appreciate your educating the rest of us. I had a cash fee-for service x 10 years. Learned so much, but at the end went back to corporate medicine x 6 years. Now I clearly understand my next steps which is consistent with your teachings.

I had cash fee for service integrative medicine x 10 yrs..yes... and then I wanted to show that integrative medicine can be useful in conventional setting which I feel like I have accomplished...
