His son then would try to bushhog with and complained about it being weak. He was running it at 1200 rpm. He lugged it around. He has a 65 hp Massey and runs it at 1200.

    Great video Jeffrey, I'm attaching the same setup wood splitter setup on my ford tractor but have many questions. I have the same Single Spool Double Acting Hydraulic Remote Valve Kit from Steiner, how did you hook up your hoses? The valve kit has two ports but which one did you use for high and low pressure? Also the valve kit handle is spring loaded to return to the center, did you use a bungee or something to wedge it open?

    • @jeffreyticen689
      @jeffreyticen689 Před rokem

      Yes I Bungie the control valve forward but it has equal power both ways so if the splitter runs backwards simply Bungie it the other direction. It's important to tape the threads on your hose fittings well or buy fittings that have an o ring in side to avoid leaking. Good luck with your job.

  • @chrisrafuse8315
    @chrisrafuse8315 Před rokem

    Excellent video and explanation of the installation process. I have a Ford 800 and considering adding the same Steiner single spool valve kit. The even though the T-handle gives you the ability to run double acting cylinders, shouldn't there be a hose for low pressure/return to the tank?

    • @jeffreyticen689
      @jeffreyticen689 Před rokem

      When you use dual action cylinders one hose has pressure to the cylinder and the other returns to the tractor. A single action cylinder has one hose at one end and a air vent at the other end to release the pressure as the cylinder moves in and out. Hope that answers your question.

So I raise the mower a couple inches off the ground the first pass then down on the second and it does fine. I'm not sure of an 8N's hp but if it is less than 35 I believe you should go with something smaller. Agri-supply sells a 6 footer I think.
