Lee Pace fits the role of Thranduil like a glove.
Thorin will not part with a single coin. Greed gets the best of him as well.
"When someone tells you to move on, you take their hand and say 'my choice.'" Such a great line
For real though. Thranduil expecting thorin to hand over gems (which he never explicitly mentioned belonged to his wife) for the "favor" of not imprisoning him? After he let the dwarves of Erebor wander homeless for years? I don't blame Thorin for not trusting Thranduil.
"I'M LISTENING" HIS VOICE IS SO DEEPPPPPP
I have a lot of problems with how sloppy these films were, but Lee Pace as Thranduil was perfection in every way
Both Thranduil and Thorin are operating based on grudges. The necklace belonged to his wife, but was recovered by the dwarves after her death. The greed of King Thrór, enhanced by one of the Sauron influenced dwarven rings, caused him to keep it from Thranduil. So it was the dwarves who betrayed the elves, and Thranduil was bitter because they would deny him an object that rightfully belonged to him, and was emblematic of his dead wife. As an elf, he held onto that bitterness for a long time, refusing to help defend the mountain, or support the refugees. They were still led by Thrór at that time, so Thranduil was turning his back on the very person that betrayed him. At this stage, Thranduil is essentially offering an olive branch to Thorin, an opportunity to reset, restore past wrongdoing by returning the necklace. But Thorin has a short memory, not knowing the context behind Thranduil's past behaviour, and thinking he's just a greedy, vain elf. Even when he does return home, Thorin is struck by a curse of greed, and is unable to reconcile until it is too late.
The sad part is, I think Thranduil was being 100% sincere with his offer.
Thorin missed a great opportunity here because of his stubborness and old grudge with the elves
Absolutely magnificent acting. Makes Amazons steaming pile of defecation look like an elementary school play.
1:05 thats nobrainer deal. Take it and easy, but no.
Thranduil was so majestic. Definitely my favorite character of all.
Anyone else think the guard armor is sick, like it almost looks like a statue until they take Thorin away
Smaug was right and Thorin was a god damned clown....... man, what a miserable character
The suffering of his people in the past and dwarves tendencies to hold grudges blinded him to be more practical in this situation
Thranduil is magnificent .
If these movies were 2 films instead of 3, it would be great. Not nearly as great as LOTR, but great nonetheless. The clips on CZcams are “to the point.” Scenes like this. No rock giant battle that takes up 10 minutes, etc. Even the beginning scene of Desolation of Smaug just reiterates what we already knew. All it adds is that Thorin’s father is missing. Another 10 minutes for just one line of dialogue of value. The chase through erebor boarded on ridiculous. They’re literally balanced on Smaug’s nose. Even a dog can snap and eat what ever is perched there in a millisecond. It’s like something out of looney tunes cartoon.
i think thorin should of taken the deal
Anyone with common sense would. Thorin just has too much pride.
These two don’t seem like they’re acting at all. They both commit 10000%. There is never a moment where you don’t completely believe Lee and Richard.
That elven man is mine girls. Bye.
Bisa di jelaskan dan video kan di Chanelmu om @JocasToy kapan Tandruil menghadapi Naga dari Utara (glaurung/ancalagon?) Mungkin
I finally finished these movies, and I was surprised. I liked them more than I expected. The new cast was perfect.👍
His crown is incredible.
“I have faced the great serpents of the North” I bet Richard Armitage was like I want to face your great serpent of the south

I’ve never noticed that Thranduil’s eyes illuminate when he says “white gems”
I know that hardly I'll have my question aswered, but american people are really so blunt in their conversations? (Excluding the baby talk, of course). I'm brazilian.
1:24....Ruthless and Cunning...Amazing acting by Robin Wright !!
In all honestly, Thranduil was right about the fact that Thorin really knew nothing about Dragon Fire. He was around during the first age, where there were dragons who would make Smaug look like a lizard in comparison. Those Dragons could destroy kingdoms with ease, and killed countless elves during the wars against Morgoth and his forces.

Is there any reason she couldn't just sue her after the fact? What about getting more insurance? This was during the Obama years when supposedly you couldn't be denied for having a pre-existing condition. What about taking out a loan for a few months worth of medication? Are there any men in this woman's life? Don't they have any money? This medication that a fetus needs to continue existing probably doesn't exist itself but for the sake of the storyline let's say it's experimental. Even in that case it wouldn't be covered under insurance anyway.
This was the first scene that Lee Pace shot. After this, his eyebrow and facial expressions got so much better.

2:30 Construction workers when they get paid hourly wage to fix a hole in the road.
Thraduril looks a little bit too much like Jimmy Savile for my taste... Anyway, greetings from Gothenburg Sweden.
This is the best and most memorable scene in the whole trilogy

Brother day
I never tire of this scene between these two. But I defs keep coming back to see my boo, Thranduil ❤
Can anyone explain to me why thranduils looked like Smaug when his face changed? What happened to him? Sorry I ain’t read the books
This was something Jackson came up with and was not in the book. Thranduil was alive in the first age. That's something 20,000 years ago or more. In that time elves and middle earth's equivalent to angels fought together against a army of dragons sent out the north to fight them. The war came about due to a theft of certain jewels which caused the deaths of millions. Jackson was implying that Thranduil was at that battle in his universe. The scar was covered up with elvish magic.
best moment of the entire triology
Thrandril hes a jerk
Heinz Kruger and Ronan The Accuser
Could someone explain why the elfs face changed?
it's a scar he has from a fight with dragons. I think he uses some kind of magic to hide it
I just wished they’d dyed his eyebrows blonde.
THANK YOU!
In this scene i've realized that Claire could be as ruthless as Frank
I've watched this scene a thousand times...I will never tire of it. Iconic.
Honestly, this would be a pretty amazing depiction of Annatar as well.
Lee Pace aka Thranduil needs his own movie.
