I LMAO when I seen this thumbnail pop up on my feed..... It's definitely should had been titled what's Second best Arthurian film after Excalibur. That will never change. Still nice video 👍.
Never even heard if this film
It’s awesome definitely give it a watch
Okay the African Magic/Myths are so interessting tbh. I wish more Fantasy Series would draw their inspiration from stuff like this.. Also I kinda like... and Im sure its unintentional? That Richter is a Belmont...but wears Speaker Blue. Its nice to see both "Families" in him.
Polish Hexer wasnt bad at all. Instant dislike
“In what is today the Takahashi River in Okayama perfecture.- Later in the film it is revealed that Haku is also a river spirit, and thus he also takes the form of a dragon”- “No-face possesses several characteristics that are unlike creature I can't find in Japanese folklore. HE SEEMS TO ABSORB AND MIMIC THE ENVIRONMENT He's in, for example, becoming GREEDY and GLUTTONOUS in the bathhouse, then more polite and well behaved in Zeniba's house.” «while in the form of a gluttonous monster, No-Face somewhat resembles creatures in Japanese and general Asian folklore called “HUNGRY GHOST” "Gaki" as they are called in Japanese folklore are thoughts to be spirits created by those who were greedy in LIFE.” They are usually depicted as emaciated creatures with bloated bellies and are thought to possess an eternal hunger in some depictions THEY CONSUME ANYTHING THEY CAN GET THEIR HANDS ON YET ARE NEVER ABLE TO SATIATE THEIR HUNGER” Again, No-FACE doesn't physically resemble a Gaki but they may have influenced his INSAITABLE HUNGER...
If you watch wuxia films, you will notice that none of them take place in the 20th century. This is because The Boxer Rebellion brought an emphatic end to the golden age of kung fu and even in their fantasies, Chinese culture puts a psychic barrier between the time before Western guns decimated martial arts culture and the time after Chinese people learned with incredible pain that no amount of cultivation can make you bullet-proof.
Great video brother. Really enjoyed the in-depth take on a classic. My fave line but its from part 2... Trautman: What do you want John?? Rambo: I want...what they want, and every other guy who came over here and spilled his guts and gave everything he had, wants! For our country to love us as much as we love it! That's what I want! 🫶🫡
I TOLD my husband this wasn't a coincidence! @12:49 🤣
didn’t think was movie was gonna be as good as it was, it was awesome
Winona Rider sempre linda
Wow no mention Bullfinches mythology
I want to see Predator vs Bigfoot
Dude didn't you get copyright from them? For using clips
I still can't understand the movie??
I watched this movie for the first time in a theater just a few weeks ago, it was incredible! I cried so much, especially how everyone helped Chihiro and how they were so happy that she didn’t fall for the witches trick at the end!
Susanoo coming out of Sasuke's nose would be pretty goofy to watch
Interesting possible connection with cochrans name and crom cruacg
Mah man, you ever coming back?
Tbh this is how they should make a girl main character, I watched this movie and it was gold, not good enough to get all the praise and attention yet it made the cut and it is a perfect action-horror movie, no complaints FINALLY!!!!
I guess she got her perfect world like the one she was building in her basement.
I'm surprised that you didn't make any reference to the kapa. Not only does Fujimoto have to worry about drying out like kapas did, but his presence on land posed a potential threat!
This was great aside from the pronunciation of names
My biggest letdown in this film was how the knights in the movie were in no way based on the ones for whom they were named. Dagonet was not a jester, Bors certainly knew a woman more than once, Bors, Galahad, and Percival had nothing remotely like a quest for the Holy Grail (though they did all survive the final battle. Maybe that counts), Tristan had no romance with any princess, and Lancelot and Gwenevere never hooked up after Arthur married her. And, of course, while none of these knights existed in stories of Arthur before the 12th century, the two whose names go the furthest back, Kay and Bedevere, do not appear in this film. I am just going to call it a missed opportunity.
I've never seen it. Is it really that good? I think I was just never interested in the movie because my mother had seen it and she didn't like Gary Oldman as Dracula, lol
I think Sean Connery deserves at least an honorable mention for First Knight.
So the TV movies Mists of Avalon and Merlin don't count as movies?
Th e Charlie Hunnam version was the most exciting King Arthur movie that had nothing to do with any extant story of King Arthur.
Really enjoyed the real lkfe references thank you for pointing them out.
My father was in Lancelot du Lac. He was the tall one of Mordred'S men. He had a line near the end of the movie.
Sasquatch?
Camelot was the only version that made me feel the love between Guenevere and Lancelot.
All military men are political tools and if they servive they are discriminated at home it's a shame they never knew what they were fighting for but not for country but for bankers interest
Muppets
It is not China
Sorry but you are rong. It is tibetan
The reason No Face could see Chihiro was that he was not busy looking for anything while he was there whereas the others were eagerly seeking worldly pleasures.
To me, as someone studying ancient history, the ancient Mesopotamian/Assyrian story of Humbaba in the Epic of Gilgamesh appears to be a direct influence to the story and the deer god. Gilgamesh and Enkidu travel to the land of cedars to fell them to gain materials and glory, but must trick and kill the sacred king guarding the forest, Humbaba, who is protected by "terrors", or wind magic granted by a nature god, Enlil. His head is ultimately cut off and his "terrors" are released unto the land. The heroes are punished for their murder of the sacred beast. Images of his head are used as protective talismans for the next 2000 years and are believed to ultimately inspire medusa and the aegis shield of Greek Mythology.
I read the novel at 17 on 1979, which I think is a better age for it. Wasnt aware of the 2018 Net Flix and if it's that far off I'll probably pass. There are many direct quotes from the book in the 78 movie. If you are American and didn't read the book the dialog can be hard to follow like when Hazel teases the cat.
We have Shogun now 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Excalibur 1981 cannot be beaten.
So, not listed for obvious reasons, but to me the best version will always be from the tv show merlin
Saddest part about this series is that every gelfling we see with be victim to mass genocide :(
This movie is garbage.
That movie was not believable that was a garbage
Also, wow you even discuss the man in a charcoal suit…i’ve been trying to find out who he is and it’s been a while so i will try again…
Excellent video. Thank you
theres literally ZERO argument or history or whatever you wanna pull out your arse. it's ghibli not jiblee
