I'd suggest you to use a tube end cups to protect grips. That rubber end can last after few droppings or fallings.
In my childhood a fixed gear was enough for literally everything. For a cargo, fun, touring.. It was simple and cheap (relatively), and heavy, and I was thinking where to go rather than which transmission to use this year. PS You're lucky Vienna is flat (and most beautiful and comfortable city in the World after Kobenhavn) 14:05 I think slicks are not good for a city made of concrete

It will be more aerodynamic, but still heavier than a good spoked wheel.
