I did a barley experiment with a chipper shredder, a tarp, and a box fan. Still had to crack the barley in a blender, re- winnow it, and ended up with a passable hot barley cereal. The JPSousa march by banjo ensemble wasn't lost on me btw. Nice touch!

Ok mister low technology, how many construction jobs have you worked on. Forget the the timber construction you mention. Have you ever seen a bunch of riggers, dogmen, & crane driver's do heavy lifts, of machinery etc. You might wonder how they lifted massive blocks if stone, can't be lfted today. You sound like a typical motor mouth young person who thinks because he has a university degree, thinks he knows something." Modern" technology is great eh! You ain't lived long enough yet, mate!!, to know anything.

This guy doesn't know how to use a scythe. Make him hold his hat under his left arm while he does it.

  • @nonyadamnbusiness9887

I've had best luck by preparing a good seed bed and raking it with a furrower that I made from fence pickets. It makes a furrow every six inches, so that when I'm done the ground looks like a giant grout towel has gone over it. I use a hand cranked seed spreader to sow it and then rake it flat by pulling a garden rake over it at a 45 degree angle to the furrows. This leaves the grain in rows, more or less, and evenly distributed. It's worked great for rye and oats.

Perhaps the Russian conspiracy theorists, in the early nineties, were not being patriotic. Perhaps they thought that their own people might finally tell the truth about everything. The communists covered things up. Their rule had ended. The free world covers this up too, of course. But the former Soviets might understand.

You are a man after my own heart. I've made some of these sandals using my own tooled leather uppers but I feel like I could do what you're trying to do here. I'm planning to pull a silicone mold from a pair of my own shoes and pressing the cork/latex into that mold. I don't think I could carve out the footbeds. Thanks so much for making this video. You've saved me a ton of time, just figuring out the latex/foam mix.

I once did a mental exercise similar to this for my county. My county has a population of about 135,000. The last time it supported itself on locally grown food, the population was around 10,000. WITH fossil fuels, we could bring some land back into production to close that gap. WITHOUT fossil fuels, there would be a lot of death.

I just think it's odd that the creator of the video admits to being conditioned to not build sustainably i.e. structures not utilizing the environment or being as durable but... thousands of years ago we were?... even as recent as hundreds of years ago?... so then I ask why? I mean to me it makes sense with the way we think about being environmentally friendly that it would have always been the goal to build sustainably unless you had another reason?... oh wait thats right the real estate game amd the money there amd zoning laws and the money there uhp and lets not forget taxes.... but you're so right i should read more i have no idea what im talking about afterall im just a clown right?

I really do appreciate your explanation of using a cradle on your scythe. You suggested Anarchy Acres for more info but didn't find any reference about a scythe cradle. If you could create a video how to create on for a scythe like yours, it would be GREAT! About a month ago I planted a patch of "Glenn Hard Spring Wheat" from Johnny's Seeds. I planted it 8 inches between rows as demonstrated in your Part 1 video, and it is doing well. I'm able to keep the weed under control thanks to your suggestion of 8" spacing. I will be using a lidded 5 gal. bucket with a hole in the lid that allows me to thresh with a 3/6 in. rebar rod and light duty lamp chain welded to it and powered by an electric drill. That combination has been working for me well for a couple of years. The rest of the process is a piece of cake. I also am going to use your idea of cutting of the wheat head into a large trash can but I will be lining the trash can using LARGE plastic bags for storage for thrashing later. Thanks.
