The night before that game against the Pacers when he fractured his cheek bone he spent in the hospital in traction. His teammates said he struggled to get dressed out for the game. Not sure if you reacted to the 5 times Larry Bird was injured but refused to quit. Crazy stories. Also his sophomore year of high school his coach in an interview said the first or second practice he broke his ankle in two places and tore the ligaments. While on crutches he practiced shooting left handed. The fall into the coaches lap looked forced but the point is he called it and did it no matter how he got there. There are a lot of great players that are definitely worth a huge mention and attention. My feelings where Larry Bird are concerned is that there isn't another player that can be compared to Larry if you add up all the accolades and factors. Nobody else fits in the same box. He stands alone. He was fantastic and the excitement a day or two before a game was off the charts. There will only be one Larry Bird and that man's career will shine bright forever. My GOAT.
