Rich could have saved her by refusing to perform until she got help. He and her mother in fact worked her to death. Also, Waiting forever for the right hubby. Rich was pressuring to work and therefore no chance if getting one. Finally mom forcing her into it was inhuman. She was so sweet. Narcissist mom. Dad needed to step in and tell mom to back off. He must have been a mouse of a man. Hard to believe she lived that long.

Bertha Franklin and The police definitely set him up. He was powerful. There was a reason they made sage to get MLK, Malcom X, and Sam Cooke away from everyone else. (Ali,Jim Brown, etc) because together they were strong.

I've always enjoyed Billie's voice/music, but never really listened to it at length. Being primarily a blues/rocker type person, from the Hendrix/Cream/Zeppelin era, but still loved to hear that 'old' music at times.. The other day on Bluesville, Sirius XM they played _Strange Fruit_ somehow I don't recall having ever heard it before and wow...blew my mind away....especially hearing B.B. King talking about the contents of that song...wow.... That a society once existed (& not that long ago, IN America,)to inspire such a tune as that , both shocked & pissed me off at the same time. Now, this lazy Sunday afternoon, I'm revisiting Billie's music and loving it. ...I need to rewatch _Lady Sings The Blues_ now....forgot about that movie until today. Good upload, thanks!
