    Certain woods produce different burn times and heat output. Personally I would start your fire with a soft wood, heat the flue to cause a good draw, have a good level of hot Ash, (cherry red) then start with a hard wood. The heat is in the Ash. Start learning what you are burning. The laws will definitely get stricter, so start to understand your wood, learn the difference from soft woods and longer burning hard woods.

    • @robertsaca3512
      @robertsaca3512 Před rokem

      Heat is in the coals, not the ash. Also, it's best to start with any type of wood, but cut the kindling down to the most appropriate size for the stage of the burn.

    Wow I never heard of ceramic tape - that is a great idea makes for a much neater, professional looking & probably better functioning seal. I am going to order some ceramic tape right away so I can finish getting my stove ready for the next heating season.

    Burn wood stove for about 35 years . Burn mostly free Chinese elm from a local golf course,also crap wood from a tree guy down the street,stuff he can’t sale. Over the years burn dry wood green wood wet wood snow covered wood ,a hot fire will burn most anything . You must keep your chimney clean or you will burn your house down. Good hot fire helps but I still clean out about once a month same time clean door glass with cheap oven cleaner. Burn 24/7 in cold WVa winter. Stay safe stay warm!

  • @thardyryll
    @thardyryll Před 2 lety

    The tape shown in the video is not often used, even by manufacturers, in the U.S. The door rope will seal without it. What is likely to be difficult is cleaning the rope channel. Nothing works as fast and effectively as a wire wheel in an angle grinder - and compressed air is invaluable for blasting of debris from the door. Obviously, proper safety equipment is crucial. If your door cannot be removed I would write a letter to the manufacturer and tell them to specialize in something simpler, like trashcans.

    • @imkranlopez5426
      @imkranlopez5426 Před rokem

      Lol! Just like KUKA should stick to making dump trucks, because their robots suck. But a wire wheel on a drill works too.

    • @thardyryll
      @thardyryll Před rokem

      @@imkranlopez5426 A drill will run a wire wheel for sure, but the ergonomics aren’t great. Also, every wire wheel will eventually start throwing bits of wire, and the guard on a mini grinder will keep you from becoming a human pincushion. I’ve pulled plenty of wire bits out of my clothing even WITH a guard. I admit to being a big fan of mini grinders - I have seven or eight, each fitted with a different attachment: wire wheel, wire cup, cutting disk, etc. Nothing gets as old as having to make do with a single grinder and constant switching. If you showed a chef a pile of knife blades and told him he had to make do with a single handle he would quit on the spot.

    The least of my problems is removing dust and "day-bree". The existing rope is a nightmare and like cemented in. Was hoping for a chemical suggestion to soften or loosen it. Was about to take a big torch to burn it out and realized how pointless that would be!

    Catalytic stoves are a PITA, rocket stoves are simpler and burn just as clean. Paint or pallet wood is fuel for them as they just burn the chemicals up. If they do not, the air in the stove never enters the house anyways.
