Serious question, from someone who's needed 10x introspection for basic function: if you don't have any concrete ideas of what to make, _why_ are you thinking about making anything? Why are you programming in the first place, if not to make some _particular_ thing you think is cool or useful? What, ultimately, is the point?

I think you undervalued the QR code. If you make a generator & reader at least, you'd learn a lot about generating images, encoding, and most importantly _reading specifications_. QR codes are pretty interesting at a low level, there's lots of redundancy in data, there's the three big blocks to orient the algorithm on how to read the QR, there's markers all over the place, there's different zones, there's even different encodings depending on how much data you need to store. It's a cool thing!

This is what my mentor explained to me when i was getting started and im greatful to him tor that. I told him i struggled to remember syntax often. He said syntax doesn't matter, you can look up syntax, understanding the WHY behind design choices is the important part. And still to this day, i cannot remember syntax very well, luckily llm's are great with syntax. Im the brains behind the system, and an llm reminds me how to use the syntax to implement the design choice i want

Imposter syndrome and feeling like you lucked into your position is so real. I feel like I got lucky with the job I have right now because I wasn't hired as a programmer, and I ended up getting my company to move my position to data management, where I build our data management software. Feels super lucky, but they only moved me to that position because I worked on data management projects they didn't ask for, for free for like a year. So I really built this position from the ground up, but even despite that it's so hard to not feel like an imposter.

The best projects are those that you make for a specific purpose. Don't just say "i made this so i can put it in my resume". Say "I identified x problem in my daily life and made this to help with it". I doesn't even have to be true. Just the fact that your project actually has a real world application will get you a long way.

7:08 man, I've been doing my neural network for number recognition from scratch in C and good Lord if it isn't a pain in the ass sometimes, but it really has been an overall great experience. I have been learning a lot, not only from machine learning which is my field of study (my degree is a CS degree focused on AI and Data Science). I recommend it if you are interested in the field, but be ready for an interesting ride.

These projects are awesome but without tutorial guidance I dont even know who to start ....
