What a grump. For example, If I watch this interview as a fan of ginger, as I am btw, I walk away thinking how interesting this was. If I approach this documentary with the mindset Of Ginger I wouldnt have bothered watching at all. I must admit he surely was a quirky fellow and above all his drumming talent and ideas is what I appreciate about him overall. But! His attitude towards others and his clear inability or clear lack of want to explain himself, his music and his passion for others is a glaring oddity. I cannot help but feel he had a god complex and his ego was so out of order any sense of humble attributes wasnt available ever. Im older myself and know all about becoming cynical and more calous but his attitude is beyond this and is border line or outright self intitiled. To finish, love his contribution to music and music history, I disregard his attitude towards others and ernest inquiry. A pinch of salt i say

CA tour had THE BEST stage show I’ve ever seen in an arena. It was a 3D and, if you were on the floor first 20-30 rows, a 360* experience. To say it was a “light show” is certainly not doing justice to the multidimensional experience it was…including the crowd.

Given his substance abuse and destructive lifestyle, Ginger shouldn't have even survived the 60s/70s, let alone through the 2010s. But like Darth Maul, the man was literally too angry to die.

Random storytime. Last summer I got stuck in a severe blizzard in the High Sierra during a hiking/mountaineering trip at over 12,000'. It became a legit survival situation, and once it finally cleared I hiked out over feet of fresh snow. It was hard, but one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. The riff Derek was playing around 6:00 is from like a 10-minute song of his that I was listening to pretty much on repeat through this experience. Just hearing that riff now gave me goosebumps, it brought me back so quickly. Trucks really has a way of making his music tap into your mind and emotions.
